News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

while I am not even white or from the west myself, but comparing 9/11 or extremist muslims with KKK is just idiotic to say the least. I am not making any justification for China btw, it's the biggest dictatorship on Earth, what do you expect?
I hope that I see for once before I die a single report by BBC of what Muslims from Indonesia to Mali are doing with minorities, gays, even other Muslims from different sects other than Sunnis. I hope that BBC does a single report about the extremist Muslim neighborhoods in the UK and other European countries. I hope that I can express my opinions in this website without getting massively downvoted within seconds.
Re:Pi-Hole: Why You Need a Network-Wide Ad-Blocker on Tuesday August 07, 2018 @04:35AM (#17704755)
what about path based blocking for https websites? this dns-based method isn't really effective unless for known ad and tracking domains, I guess most of the time you need to block a certain path and that cannot be known for the case of https except inside the browser itself after decrypting the TLS payload. Also this could break some websites and users don't even recognize this is due to pi-hole. This is why I believe that adblockers at the endpoint like ublock-origin are the most effective way to block ads.
>Please don't use Hacker News primarily for political or ideological battle

I don't use it as such, but the post itself was political and if you don't like politics in HN, you should have removed the post itself in the first place

>Please don't comment about the voting on comments

You are right in this one and I apologize, but it wasn't the first time to get massively downvoted just because I expressed a non ultra liberal opinion, this downvoting abuse is kinda dictatorship here.

I don't see where I violated your guidelines, maybe I am not liberal enough? why am I always downvoted massively whenever I post a non-ultra-liberal comment? why? what if I posted a comment ridiculing the current POTUS and praising the former POTUS? will I get upvoted or downvoted do you think? I think you know the answer
enlighten me, they are what then?
what did I expect from HN anyway except purging non-liberal ideas with their downvoting SS force?

Wasn't this the same asshole who hijacked gorhill's work 4 years ago and even asked for money for others' work? now he sold others' work? what a scumbag!

Re:Django Newbie Mistakes on Thursday June 28, 2018 @10:08AM (#17416964)
Django is a hell for APIs and big projects. It's good for beginners and small projects, but once you need the least amount of actual control, you will find it's too late
Re:Instagram Is Estimated to Be Worth More Than $100B on Tuesday June 26, 2018 @12:34PM (#17402020)
What a time to be alive. Many tech companies now that don't offer any actual product or service and don't even make money are valued multiple times more than the biggest car manufacturers.
>he's like a Steve Jobs

How can you compare innovative engineers to low IQ bullies with connections?

WTF

Re:Microsoft Is Said to Have Agreed to Acquire GitHub on Sunday June 03, 2018 @08:00PM (#17223300)
If it's true, it's the moment that GitLab will see a major boost and replace GitHub within 2-4 of years
4chan is the last and only bastion of free speech on the internet. I know most here still think it's about trolling/racism/sharing shocking images, but I've seen there the most interesting discussions that cannot be found anywhere else. I agree that /pol/ is full retards, but there is also /his/, /g/, /sci/ and /mu/
Re:Improving DNS Privacy in Firefox on Friday June 01, 2018 @11:38AM (#17206321)
While this is much better imo than just sending over DNS protocol as eliminates old DNS attacks like spoofing, it won't make users _practically_ any safer since all subsequent TCP requests have the resolved IP in the IP packet. But like I said, it's still better than the default protocol.
I use ad blockers since forever, howver I just find it extremely mean and unethical that a company like Adguard makes profit by depraving others from their lawful profits by blocking ads. Ad blocking by its nature should not be commercialized.
I like how it's ALWAYS the case in HN that any opinion that's not 100% politically correct && strictly SJW standard compliant is suppressed.
Who needs proofs when it comes to Russia. It's mordor according to the american media and deep state. Everything that stems from it represents Dark Lord aka Putin. Let's just keep inventing stories about it until we all eventually believe our own lies. Maybe inventing more stories about how good we are and how evil they are will make our beliefs stronger like it has always worked throughout history.
Re:AI winter is well on its way on Tuesday May 29, 2018 @10:08PM (#17184471)
It's the same story again like exaggerating the influence of IoT 5 years ago. The whole thing is exaggerated to raise money from investors and attract customers instead of actually buidling superior product
Reddit new design is amazing, SPA websites are clearly the future, you guys will complain about anything more than just 100% static html pages that can run on lynx
Also https://airma.sh , one of the most upvoted show HN posts of all time is a multiplayer HTML5 game
But fake news didn't mean "news that liberals and leftists don't like" back then
Re:A Layman’s Intro to Western Classical Music on Saturday April 28, 2018 @05:27PM (#16949492)
I discovered this website https://classicalmusiconly.com/ on a SHOW HN post several months ago. Really nice for anybody who's interested in classical music
Re:Show HN: Which religion produces the most atheists? on Wednesday April 25, 2018 @06:20AM (#16920163)
this should be interpreted as one thing, christian societies which are concentrated in Europe and the Americas are way more free than other societies, so more people can become anything else because it's basically cost-less, compare that to islamic societies when a single gesture that you're not a total conformist with the teachings of your sect can easily cost you your life or having to spend years behind bars
