I suggest you look into the companies that are actually hiring and getting the bulk of the H1B visas. Because it may surprise you, it's not top tier tech engineers at Facebook, Apple, etc. It's companies like InfoSys and Cognizant. [1]

The business model of these companies is to provide workers at a cost below what it costs in the US. This business model is a big reason why they are so successful. At scale these companies drive cost, and wages down. US workers then need to accept lower paying jobs. The worst thing about it is the wage depression here is most felt by the low-tier tech workers, not the well paid SV engineers.

And they don't always follow the rules either. Infosys and Cognizant have been caught up in legal trouble for visa fraud. [2]

Perhaps, if it wasn't a fork of Bitcoin. If was originally called Cash Coin and rebranded to Bitcoin Cash, then it would seem likely that group is trying to capitalize on the name. That's not the case here. This name came naturally, just like similar names occur in other forked software.[0]

The takeaway for me was this:

I delivered for Pita & Sticks in 2015 when it was a new restaurant. The owner refused to pay me my last paycheck after I quit and found another delivery job.

Point is.. delivery drivers were treated like shit before GrubHub and Uber. Before it was restaurant owners. Not all, but many.

Now that the deliveries are all centralized to a few companies, it’s an opportunity to get delivery workers better wages and benefits.

Great point, this was my first thought also. Google has been doing a slow creep of this type of content for the past through years through the featured snippet you mentioned, and other knowledge panel material. They now serve sports, weather, math, translation, flights, etc.

Yelp is now in free for all mode and monetizing whatever they can. They forced a bad ZocDoc integration, which was an absolute nightmare, and broke our Yelp pages overnight. Not surprised at all to see this.
