Re:Steve Jobs Next Computer: His Forgotten Exile Years on Friday May 15, 2026 @01:57PM (#48151736)
Sorry, wut.

"Computers in the 1980s were really difficult to program. He discovered at NeXT Computer that he could build beautiful software using what are called “objects”—items that, essentially, are pre-programmed in a library. This is how apps are made today, and Steve Jobs was doing this in 1988. As a result, the first ever app store appeared on a NeXT computer."

If not now, when?

It is indeed proven and the reason they're called Turing machines! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halting_problem
Well no, as a consumer you need to feel comfortable that you know how to get your money back if there's a problem with your purchase, as a merchant you need similar protections and a stable cost model, and as a bank you need an income model to cover all the costs and risks associated with processing the transaction. Moving the money is the easy part and is not the main set of problems that the card payment schemes have solved.

Do you have a public example of this? I'd love to see how to do this with Github Actions.

Arguably Psychedelia by Jeff Minter [1] has a claim to be the first software music visualiser. The algorithm is pretty straightforward [2] and I recently 'ported' it to Javascript for fun.[3]

Based on the original 6502 assembly for the C64.
This particular operation seemed to be in Germany - we're in another European country. She got two notices and ignored both. Nothing has come of them so far. Whatever about tweeting an infringing image, retweeting it seems like a bit of a reach.
My wife received one of these threatening notices. In her case she had simply retweeted someone's tweet that contained the offending image. This enforcement activity is definitely the wrong side of abusive.
