Re:Supreme Court Overturns Roe vs. Wade on Friday June 24, 2022 @10:44AM (#31862777)
do you think the supreme court did this because they share the same opinion as rbg? I think this Case was maybe a wonky solution for the Problem but it was the only one you Americans Had.
Nice work on the Gordon Freeman Voice :D
Re:Flower – A Friendly Federated Learning Framework on Tuesday December 22, 2020 @10:55AM (#25507516)
Correct. Federated Learning is basically Machine Learning but the Learning occurs directly on the same devices where the data is (e.g. phones). Each device trains a model and sends it to one central model, which combines all of them together. With this it is not necessary for the central model to know about the data which is good with regards to data protection laws.
No umlaute - can't use it. Looks nice though.
Well, I'll just be the one to say it: PHP

EDIT: Framework... maybe F3 or Codeigniter, whatever floats your boat.

The font isn't rendered well in FF 16. Other than that, it's a pretty interesting project.
Re:Adobe's Source Code Pro Font on Sunday October 07, 2012 @12:58PM (#4623700)
I tried it and it looks all blurred in my text editor.
Alright, that makes sense. Great idea and reasonable pricing, I wish you the best of luck with your project.
I don't get why I should pay for this service. I could just download and install pandoc for free on my system. Am I missing something?
Re:The new Secure Password Hashing API in PHP 5.5 on Wednesday September 12, 2012 @04:52PM (#4513150)
Wow, that actually is very useful. Looking forward to using it.

Great, thank you for taking the time to write this.
Re:Forget MSP430 Launchpad - TI ARM Cortex-M4 Launchpad at $4.99 on Sunday September 02, 2012 @02:49PM (#4467743)
So what exactly can I do with one of these? What do I need apart from the Launchpad to get started? Would someone be so kind to explain that to a microcontroller-newb?

Apart from that, grats on your first project!

Re:Web Application Development with Clojure on Sunday August 19, 2012 @10:58AM (#4404169)
Maybe that's just what it's like developing Web Applications with Clojure... ;-)
Re:Late bloomer, not a loser. (I hope) on Sunday July 08, 2012 @08:02AM (#4214398)
So you're a loser now when you have a bachelor degree, a job and good health? Times have changed.
Re:Unity is the end of Ubuntu on Friday October 21, 2011 @10:46AM (#3139956)
After upgrading to 11.10 I kinda raged for about one hour. Then installed KDE. And I am looking out for an alternative distro that fits my needs.

Ask HN: Development for small range of customers

Are there any approaches on sucessfull/efficient development of wide applications for a small range of customers? Given that there is a financially strong, but very small customer group whose business processes are based on an international standard, though differ in many significant ways. So it seems to be impossible to develop an application that can be sold to every customer without major...

Re:High Priority Free Software Projects on Friday October 07, 2011 @10:42AM (#3084175)
A free alternative to Oracle Forms? That's a pretty neat idea since in my opinion OF actually serves the developers instead of enslaving them.
Re:Hacker News Front Page Snapshot from Last Night on Friday October 07, 2011 @07:48AM (#3083532)
You ask to much. Maybe you can stay calm and read the 10'000th article on node.js while half of the world mourns one of the greatest visionaries of the last decades. I can't.

My profile now shows a blank page... although my json file seems to be valid. Help? http://mats.hackerhub.org/

Re:Why Ubuntu Linux is now ready for primetime on Monday August 29, 2011 @06:11PM (#2939281)
Hm yeah I recently discovered Xara Xtreme, what seems to be quite similar to Fireworks from my point of view. I once tried Inkscape but it literally grossed me out just like photoshop did. Maybe eventually I'll give it another try.
Re:Why Ubuntu Linux is now ready for primetime on Monday August 29, 2011 @06:06PM (#2939267)
It's also about several features which aren't quite working under Linux. But I'll try that.
Re:Show HN: Like Button for Hacker News on Sunday August 28, 2011 @07:06PM (#2935247)
I have the feeling, that a social network is the exact opposite of what HN is aiming to be. I'd rather like to think of it as a community.
Re:Why Ubuntu Linux is now ready for primetime on Saturday August 27, 2011 @10:17AM (#2931504)
Ubuntu is great, I have it up and running on my laptop since about 2 years. But I have WinXP, too. Just because I need Fireworks (I absolutely can't get along with PS or Gimp) and Wine is okay, but it makes the applications so slow...

That is really the only damned reason, I still have to switch between Win and Linux on my Laptop. If Adobe's products would run flawlessly on Linux, I'd never touch Windows again.

Re:The curious case of DuckDuckGo on Monday August 22, 2011 @05:18AM (#2911893)
Feelin the same way, but I'll be trying this anyway. I'd rather have it ugly and honest than good looking and insidious.
Re:Twitter Bootstrap on Saturday August 20, 2011 @08:07AM (#2906463)
Thank you so much for that framework. I just started implementing it in my latest app. Looks great! I'm struggling a bit with the modals implementation, but I'll get it to work.
