Re:DoorDash to Acquire Instacart on Thursday October 29, 2026 @01:58PM (#50293258)
You've continued to use a service for a "few years" while it provides you with rotten fruit?
Discussion of Linux has been forbidden on /r/opensource because there's AI generated code in it.
"How dare you make a claim I don't agree with. Your opinion should be flagged and hidden from the view of the public!"

It's like you custom designed your post to make his exact point.

I don't like how information is siloed in discord but making this change retroactively is dangerous. And the option to opt out is only useful to those who know about it.
Re:Character.ai files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @02:16PM (#50076149)
Leading off with "they made me see a boob once" to demonstrate how evil they are is so funny.
Re:Deno Is Joining Cloudflare on Friday October 09, 2026 @09:54PM (#50028740)
What makes Deno more suitable for this than any other runtime? It's just executing JS code right? I wouldn't think this would leave any meaningful fingerprint.
Re:StreetComplete on iOS is now in public beta on Friday October 02, 2026 @12:21AM (#49929813)
Does it need to work offline? Seems like a niche use case.
Re:StreetComplete on iOS is now in public beta on Thursday October 01, 2026 @02:44PM (#49925488)
Is there some reason this can't be done in a browser? We need to stop feeding these app stores.

More Cartmanland marketing. It's the best park ever, and you can't come!

Get lost.

Re:Sonnet 5.5 on Monday September 28, 2026 @07:58PM (#49886137)
I can't understand it. Clearly someone cares because like you say the comments are always upvoted. But why anyone cares I simply don't know. It just feels like attention seeking behaviour to continue posting it.
Re:PipePipe: NewPipe hard fork implementing SponsorBlock on Sunday September 27, 2026 @01:45AM (#49863676)
No. I don't want to stream a video from some dude on a mobile connection heading into a train tunnel. There's simply no upside for me.
Re:PipePipe: NewPipe hard fork implementing SponsorBlock on Saturday September 26, 2026 @09:21PM (#49862391)
With no end in sight to the increasing cost of storage I can't imagine a worse time to put the burden of video storage onto users.

Even forgetting that issue, the last thing I want is to use some unknown, unpredictably changing residential connection for my videos. Google has invested in a powerful edge network so they can server my videos lightning quick.

Re:Rails World 2026 Opening Keynote [video] on Thursday September 24, 2026 @03:45PM (#49835895)
One of the things I admire most about Basecamp is that they are a bootstrapped, profitable business. There's no shame in running a business this way. The world would be more resilient if more business owners grew sustainably instead of soaking up endless invester funding and losing money year after year before enshittifying in a desperate attempt to repay their overlords.
Whether it's illegal or not is irrelevant to the comment I was responding to, which incorrectly claimed "He didn't manage to sell them. Everyone hates the tariffs".

He campaigned and won with tarrifs as one of his main policy points. Voters favour them. Americans get tarrifs because Americans want tarrifs. Deal with it.

He campaigned and won on tariffs. A plurality of Americans favor them, evidently.
Stop deploying software onto closed platforms. There's no excuse.
Re:Gemini 3.8 Live and 3.8 Live Extended Thinking on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @03:07PM (#49717277)
My Gemini app is still stuck at 3.5 Flash-lite and 3.6 Flash so I truly don't understand how Google rolls this stuff out. I don't use Gemini for anything serious so I'm not going to use the API, but it's my go-to for just searching basic information (replacing google search) because it's so darn fast.
Re:GrapheneOS' rewritten Messages app is released on Saturday September 12, 2026 @03:01AM (#49669687)
I'll believe it when I see it.
Re:GrapheneOS' rewritten Messages app is released on Saturday September 12, 2026 @03:01AM (#49669685)
Literally any? Really? Are you sure you're not looking at this through an Americancentric lens? The Google phone was never offered in my market, so second hand options are simply not available.
Re:GrapheneOS' rewritten Messages app is released on Friday September 11, 2026 @04:51PM (#49665187)
Wake me up when I don't need to ship hundreds of dollars to Google to use this OS.
Re:GrapheneOS' rewritten Messages app is released on Friday September 11, 2026 @04:50PM (#49665179)
What do you mean "why"? For the exact reason he stated in his first paragraph - a serious regression impacting his workflow.
Re:Jellyfin 12.0 on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @12:26AM (#49605612)
It sounds like a real pain in the ass upgrade, I'm thankful I've put off trying Jellyfin this long.
I mean of course it was. Everything in this whole ludicrous space is a scam of one kind or another. It's amazing to me that this is still even a point of discussion. It's obviously a rug pull.
What do they care if there's a panic? They have "paused the sidechain". No one can act on their panic.
Read the article to find out.
Your take isn't controversial, it's just wrong. And you seem to be implying everywhere outside of USA and Europe is a developing region?
Re:Gemini 3.8 Flash on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @02:16PM (#49540210)
As someone who has stubbornly stuck with Claude Code, what's a good harness for Gemini models?
Re:Introducing Ad Blocker for Firefox on iOS on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @03:12AM (#49532803)
It doesn't weaken his position at all. Just because it hurts your delicate sensibilities.

Re:How accurate have Ed Zitron's AI skeptic predictions been? on Wednesday September 02, 2026 @03:00AM (#49532712)
I ask again, have you ever heard Zitron speak? The way he presents himself has absolutely nothing in common with any tech CEO or AI enthusiast I have ever seen.
