Shipping a handwritten card is a pain but digital cards can feel soulless. I built a tool that bridges the gap: using image processing and path tracing, it turns a snapshot of your scribbles into an animated card with a personal touch.
- Images are only stored for processing and deleted afterward. - animations can be deleted by the user and are then also removed from the server - No data is sold or used for training.
Feel free to share! I’ll be adding this info to the landing page.

Hey HN, I built a tool that takes a photo or scan of your handwritten text and converts it into a stroke-by-stroke animation. The goal is to preserve the personal feel of handwriting while making it easy to share digitally. Here’s a short demo note if you want to see it in action: https://www.handwritten-cards.de/cards/ff8d6fe46e62fe48773f3...I’d love any feedback on whether you find this...
Hi HN,I built PVBenchmark to forecast and benchmark solar power generation at your exact location. It leverages data on panel orientation, tilt, and capacity to predict your system’s performance before installation—and for those already using solar, it lets you compare actual output against similar setups to pinpoint inefficiencies.Originally a project for Germany, it now offers global...
Hi HN,I built PVBenchmark to help people understand how much solar power they can generate at their location and how their system compares to others. If you're looking to reduce reliance on the grid, plan a backup power setup, or just check whether your solar array is performing as expected, this might be useful. The site provides location-based forecasts based on panel orientation, tilt, and...
Hi HN,I built PVBenchmark as a community-driven platform to forecast daily solar energy production and benchmark performance against real-world data from other systems. My hope is to give solar owners (or prospective owners) an easy way to see whether their system is performing optimally. It features location-based forecasts: enter your location, panel orientation, tilt, and capacity to get...
Hi HN,I want to share PVBenchmark with you, a side project designed to help owners of photovoltaic systems forecast and benchmark their solar energy production.Small plug-and-play solar systems, like those increasingly popular in Germany and around the world, allow homeowners and renters to install solar panels on balconies, rooftops, or backyards. These systems make renewable energy more...

Hi HN,I’ve been working on a small project that transforms handwritten notes into animated, shareable cards. While the create functionality isn’t live yet, I wanted to share a sneak peek by creating a handwritten Christmas card specifically for the HN community.I started thinking about this after seeing too many AI-generated cards, cookie-cutter email templates, and overly polished designs that...

I’ve spent a lot of time reading articles that promise a lot but never give me what I’m looking for. They’re full of clickbait titles, scary claims, and pointless filler. It’s frustrating, and it’s a waste of my time.So I made a tool. You give it a URL, and it tries to cut through all that noise. It gives you a shorter version of the content without all the nonsense. I built this because I’m...

Hi HN,I’d like to share a side project I’ve been working on: https://pvbenchmark.de/.In Germany, small plug-and-play photovoltaic systems, often referred to as “balcony PV systems,” have become increasingly popular. These systems are designed for easy installation on balconies or rooftops, allowing homeowners and renters to feed a small amount of renewable energy back into the grid while...

I put together a prototype that generates blog posts from Git commits. It’s a way for small businesses or solo devs to keep their blogs updated with relevant content without writing new posts every time. You enter your repo and a date range, and it creates a short summary of recent changes – useful for keeping your blog active and potentially improving SEO.It’s still pretty basic, so I’d really...

I put together a small prototype that might help folks like me who struggle with keeping their website’s blog active just for SEO. It’s a basic tool: you enter your Git repo details (owner, name, branch), pick a date range, and it generates a short blog post from the commits in that period. The idea is to give small businesses and solo devs a way to keep their blog up-to-date with actual...
