It's amazing how the model is capable of identifying concepts as nodes in the graph, and linking them together. It means it's also useful for concept maps, apart from simply NER.

I've set up a little online demo, however due to browser sandboxing, it's lacking the "load file" functionality. The application loads as a static asset, and API Key get's stored solely in your browser local storage.

I'm afraid this is a desktop application so there's no live demo right now. But yeah maybe I could set something up so it can be demoed online.

There are binaries you can use for windows and linux, you need an OpenAI api key though:

As for the prompt you can find it in: scr/config/prompts.js

Show HN: GPT-grap. A simple, GPT-3 text to entity-relation graph generator

https://github.com/achousa/gpt-graph

Hi HN!This is a simple text to entity-relation graph generator, powered by gpt-3 davinci model. The purpose is to feed it actual written data, to obtain a graph representation of entities and relationships mentioned in the text. Also, being able to identify entity attributes like gender, size, age ...My initial goal, was to make it able to process a large amount of text into a big single graph....

I use batocera linux in my old desktop for a very capable retro-games machine. It's a little bulkier than the tipical Raspberry Pi + retropie installation, but beats it's performance and comes for free.
I am sorry, but freedom of expression cannot exist without respect. Most of the Catalan political leaders voice their opinions with respect and they get heard everywhere.

You could argue that "hatred" is in jeopardy though, if you feel it's worth.

More propaganda from the secessionists. You have been using institutional resources to spread your ideas for forty years, it is more than clear to everybody that your freedom of expression is not in jeopardy.

Bugs will happen, that's a natural law of computer science, if you keep on trucking over them you will be delivering buggy software that is likely to cause problems. Even if you chase them down and correct them all, your software is still going to have bugs, that's a fact of life.

Should code containing bugs be allowed to run? If the answer is no we must ask ourselves how much software we have today that is completely bug free (that will be 0%).

I still think these proactive approaches are good to disclose possible exploits, but killing processes just because they might be exploitable is a very long shot.

>you would probably rather your programs crash than give away private information

Crashing on a security issue is a good thing for every kind of user. Crashing on a latent bug that COULD be exploited (maybe not possible at all) is a totally not desirable situation. The problem here is that hardening methods lack the ability to make that distinction.

The © in the quote is a nice touch.

Re:Times I've Messed Up as a Developer on Tuesday October 10, 2017 @12:35PM (#15443143)
That time I had to update the users table so users belonging to 'department A' should now belong to 'department B'. I wrote that really simple update sentence and even diligently tested it on one of the pre-production servers. Then I copied & pasted it into the production console just to notice that I hadn't copied the WHERE clause of the sentence and now all of the users belonged to the same department.

The fix was not painful, just restore de user table from last night's backup. but I felt a little ashamed when i had to explain the database administrator what has happened.

From that day, I keep autocommit always off.

Re:Is there any value in just writing HTML and CSS? on Monday September 18, 2017 @04:01AM (#15274109)
Yes, in the end you end up with just HTML and CSS, but the library abstracts the developer away so well, he doesn't need to know about the DOM.

I'm not saying this is a perfect situation, but the truth is that html and css skills are somewhat less valuable for a web developer nowadays.

Just an example, this UI takes 35 lines of javascript code to be created using DHTMLX:

for those who want to play around:

> The reverse isn't true. You can't make a page out of just JavaScript. Even if JS builds your DOM and builds the styles for it (because hey, crazy people have crazy ideas) the DOM and styles are still HTML + CSS. You still need to know what the JS should build.

Not exactly true. Some frameworks (like DHTMLX) allows one to generate forms, pages, images and even complex UI layouts with just code and without a single line of html or css.

Seems like posting to HN is a good way to trigger a DDOS

I agree, FITYMI is one of the most missunderstood mottos of all time. It has to do with changing one's mental state about something in order to achieve that thing rather than framing someone about what you are capable of.
Re:From OS X to Ubuntu on Tuesday January 10, 2017 @12:26PM (#13366704)
As pointed somewhere in this thread, the Arch linux wiki is a good resource for hardware compatibility issues. It doesn't really matter if it focus in one particular distro, it's the same kernel after all.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Category:Hardware

To my limited knowledge, intel hardware has excellent linux support. If you need a little more muscle in the GPU go for nvidia rather than AMD.

> Linux is the only consortium of operating systems that still suffer from the inability to "just work out of the box"

I'm sorry to disagree, but after a fresh install of windows you still have to install a ton of drivers for specific hardware plus a ton of reboots after each one.

In fact IMHO Ubuntu offers a way better "out of the box" experience than windows does nowadays.
