News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

Nice project!

If I want to run this on a VPS for a few sandboxes, what’s the minimum spec that won’t make everything melt? CPU/mem/storage?

Any hidden gotchas not in the README?

That’s pretty strange. I wonder if Altadena restricted Google from updating the map imagery?

Well, this just made it even easier to keep coding away from the desk.
Re:Free static site generator for small restaurants and cafes on Wednesday December 03, 2025 @02:01AM (#46131059)
How should the menu be adjusted then? Baristas aren’t into code, no one’s gonna learn programming just to tweak a menu.
True that. But I’ve noticed a lot of people still have no idea how to save their own videos, they even ask me to download them all the time.

So I ended up making this online tool to make the whole thing way easier.

Mind sharing it? (As long as it doesn’t involve anything private.)
Re:The Cloudflare outage was a good thing on Monday November 24, 2025 @06:26AM (#46032884)
Yeah, when it went down, a bunch of the sites I use every day just stopped working.

That’s when I realized it’s basically one of the backbone pieces of the entire internet.

This tool actually feels pretty solid too.
Awesome, debugging is gonna be way easier from here on out.
Re:RegreSQL: Regression Testing for PostgreSQL Queries on Friday November 14, 2025 @04:53AM (#45925430)
Just found out about pglite, this library is insanely cool. You can even run Postgres right in the browser.
If everything’s completely open, it could lead to a higher rate of malware installs.
Re:Text case changes the size of QR codes on Friday November 07, 2025 @03:47AM (#45844648)
First time learning about this detail.
I usually switch models depending on the situation, for simpler stuff, I lean toward 4o since it’s faster to get answers.

But when things get more complex, I prefer GPT-5, talking with it often gives me fresh ideas and new perspectives.

Gotta say, this is amazing, exactly what I needed.
Re:How I stopped worrying and started loving the Assembly on Saturday November 01, 2025 @04:17AM (#45780029)
I’ve never worked with assembly before, but I learned a lot from this article.
Re:Keep Android Open on Wednesday October 29, 2025 @07:46AM (#45745529)
True, if a new system ever wants to rise, it’s gonna need backing from a major player. But once it takes over the market, it might just become the next “Android.”
Re:I've been loving Claude Code on the Web on Wednesday October 29, 2025 @02:59AM (#45743505)
Claude Code is awesome, no doubt, but I’ve recently fallen in love with Codex. It takes longer to respond, sure, but the changes it makes are way more thorough — the attention to detail is just next level.
This post made me open up the Svelte docs again.
Re:Recall for Linux on Monday October 27, 2025 @04:52AM (#45718676)
LOL, can’t believe a Linux app turned out to be an .exe file.
We're going to see a new kind of hacker — prompt-injection attacks.
The first time I heard about Zig was actually on Bun’s website, it’s been getting better and better lately.
Re:Why I Code as a CTO on Sunday October 26, 2025 @04:29AM (#45710042)
I think it’s great when a CTO keeps coding, that’s a solid habit. But using that as a reason to push overtime? Definitely not a good idea.
Re:Radios, how do they work? (2024) on Thursday October 23, 2025 @03:01AM (#45679015)
Probably just a network hiccup.

I ran into the same thing earlier, but it worked fine after a couple refreshes.

I checked out Academia.edu, it’s packed with papers, but I’m not really sure about the quality tho.
Re:ChatGPT Atlas on Tuesday October 21, 2025 @11:18PM (#45664584)
Looks like the way users connect to the internet is about to change
First time hearing about this app, sounds like it totally fits my use case. Gotta give it a try!
Re:DeepSeek OCR on Monday October 20, 2025 @04:40AM (#45641366)
Kinda reminds me of PaddleOCR.

Would be awesome if DeepSeek OCR could be integrated into a mobile app someday. That’d make OCR way more convenient!

Re:WebMCP on Saturday October 18, 2025 @01:19AM (#45625109)
Tried Claude’s Chrome control feature before, it totally blew my mind.

Didn’t expect WebMCP to let you build custom MCP clients too. That’s actually way more flexible!

Re:Codex Is Live in Zed on Friday October 17, 2025 @05:17AM (#45614727)
Sorry, I did indeed use AI, the main reason being that my subject is not in English, so I had AI help adjust it appropriately. (This is a direct translation through Google Translate.)
