Bad idea. What distinguished this site was the news on startups. If you want tech news there are hundreds of good sites out there. This becomes one more. Look at dzone, slashdot, and many more.

What is that difference? In IT, I'd imagine that no person in his right mind would choose to implement s/w dev in the method defined in the PMP. There is scrum, agile, rup and dozens more processes.

I guess, does a PMP say that you have managed s/w projects and you know the process. In the same way that a graduate in IT can prove that he has studied the field.

PMP stands for Project Management Professional

Is a PMP valued in IT?

I see many people getting a PMP, is there market demand for it? Do startups look for PMP candidates? Do big companies hire PMPs? I have heard that a PMP in IT does not do as much a PMP in contruction. What do you think?

I dont know about UK citizens, maybe there is an agreement by UK and USA but citizens from india cannot start a company or work on anything else other than the visa they are assigned.
I feel you, i really feel you. I have been sitting on 3 implemented ideas, one of which is really good. Working on a 4th idea. Hoping that once the green card gets through, I can break out, start a company and hit the road. on reading this discussion here and this one here http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40253, I did what I could, I blogged about it :)

congratulations! waiting for mine, it is an insane journey!!

I dont understand the green card system, if you run a company, you want the best to stay, and not make their life hard. the existing process makes it harder for those better performers for the USA company.
