I guess. I assume the OpenAI vision, in the short term, is for there to be a beefy LLM on top that can call the correct sub LLMs that have more bespoke knowledge about random things, and sort of orchestrate an answer based on that.
Not sure why OpenAI feels the need to pay people for this though, I guess to incentivize use?
Still dont understand why anyone would "pay" for this. The default model will probably be better in pretty much all cases. I guess if someone randomly has some sort of esoteric knowledge? Seems very limited.
This «merge with the ai» thing never makes any sense. What possible improvement would a hunan provide a super intelligent AI in some merge operation?
Ideas are, will be, and always has been, worthless on their own.
These boys will not be your rank and file employees. They will operate exactly as they have done in OpenAI. Only difference will be that they no longer have this weird "non-profit, but actually some profit" thing going on.
These investors must be very dumb. Like pushing toothpaste back in the tube.

Is it just AI?Seems to me we have said all that needed to be said when it comes to web sites. Cloud systems are fairly mature and unlikely to change that much. What else is there? Is software engineering a "solved" discipline?
You think life was better before oil?
As smart as the people are at OpenAI they sure do some incredibly stupid things.
I guess it proves that this "company" is ran by scientists and not business people, which I guess is reassuring?
Haha yeah they are kicking out the CEO of their most profitable venture because he uses a mac.
It is a shame. Altman always seemed like his heart was in the right place with this stuff.
Much prefer him to the deepmind people who seem almost psychopathic by comparison.
This is the craziest thing I have ever seen.
I wonder how far away we are from "make a movie from a sentence".
2030?
Also why do these AI people always end with "this does not replace anyone". Surely they do not believe this?
Value is a human concept.
What things are «designed for» and what they end up being are often not 1 to 1.

In a world where nothing seems sure anymore what would you do? Would you bother getting an education? When knowledge becomes meaningless is there a reason to learn?
I do want to get into that but where I am at embedded computing jobs are kind of rare. I do like programming in C quite a bit.
I guess a bit of both. Managing memory itself is not that interesting as it is just mostly a nice shotgun to shoot yourself in the foot with. I just like the idea of working in a more limited environment where I am forced to come up with perhaps more novel solutions than what my job is now which is just stiching together random libraries and creating unnecessarily complicated SQL queries.

I got into doing programming professionally around 2014, which was way after memory and stuff was really much of a concern for 99% of all applications seemingly.I always do look enviously at back when you had to figure out sort of bootstrappy ways to solve problems due to inherent limitations of the hardware instead of just sitting there gluing frameworks together like a loser.Am I wrong or was...
This feels a bit like discussing the new fancy garden hoe as a farm hand as they are making the tractor.

Something I have been seeing around these parts is this scenario were everyone with any degree of craftsmanship gets fired by clueless managers and they will drunkely prompt Jarvis to do the same job as these now fired employees.I am just wondering how these organizations will live, what are they making? If what they are doing requires no knowledge and can be reproduced instantly then surely...
Honestly, I was expecting it to be better at programming than it is. It still struggles with novel sort of esoteric solutions. I figured this would quite literally kill programming, I guess 5 will.
For what its worth, I hope you are right.

Hello all.I have had some motivational issues lately with regards to software development. In the past I used to really love programming.Learning new frameworks, languages, paradigms. Building random things, cutting my teeth into all sorts of things from IoT to blockchain to ML.
It always felt like an endless treasure trove of interesting problems to solve. However after the whole generative AI...
There are three ways to reliably make money in business. Be first, be smarter or cheat.
OpenAI is not significantly if at all smarter than Google, and you can`t really cheat in this situation so therefore it is easiest to be first.
I dont see it making full stack apps from one command that arent your garden variety mickey mouse applications that nobody cares about.
I think for now it will allow people to do more with less, but will not really change things that much. Obviously this will change as the years go by, but for now I am honestly a bit disappointed by gpt4. I was expecting more.
I usually write nodes on a nodepad, pen and paper. I hate computers and I tend to remember stuff better when I write it down.
How is it proven, the answer is non-deterministic. It will probably be good but there is no guarantee. I just do not understand how you are unable to literally google god, unless you literally have no concept of how to write words.
What sort of moron needs to pay someone for a GPT prompt??
I think you are a massive idiot if you for some reason want to help these people. May as well give Bill Gates 10 bucks while you are at it.
