Show HN: Community Chat via SMS (US and Canada Only), Alpha

https://ewujo.com/

Hey from the creator of Ewujo. A little hobby project because I've gotten tired of having to download a different app (Slack, Discord, Whatsapp, Telegram, Signal, etc.) for every group. For techies, it might be no better than an email group, but I've got friends who don't reply to emails, so I made this for a few communities I run.The thing I wanted was to not have to surface everyone's phone...

I’m helping build it too and would love any thoughts out there!

Who else is into consumer robotics?

Synthesis AI | https://synthesis.ai/ | REMOTE (US timezones) | Full-time | Sales Engineers, Backend Engineers

We're hiring for sales engineers (junior welcomed!) and senior backend engineers. We're a VC-funded startup generating large amounts (hundreds of terabytes) of data for companies doing computer vision machine learning. We reduce our customers' need for collecting real data by 10x. Our customers are some of the big name tech companies and automotive companies, and startups too.

Tech stack: Python, Golang, React, AWS (SQS, S3, EC2, EFS, RDS, Kubernetes, Pulumi, more)

See https://angel.co/company/synthesis-ai/jobs

Feel free to contact me directly: [email protected]

Synthesis AI | REMOTE | Contract to FT | Javascript engineer | San Francisco | https://synthesis.ai/

We generate terabytes of data for computer vision via a simple API, enabling the programmatic generation of millions of images with pixel-perfect labels to help you build new, better, and more balanced AI.

Our enterprise customers need a GUI to build and validate requests to our API, and that's who we're looking to hire! Mostly in-browser javascript, with some Node.js.

Yoga is a language as well as an environment, so if the robot has an open controller where a compiled program can be installed, it will work!

What robot did you want to tinker with

Curious about your use case! Do you want to setup your own warehouse for you and your own friends? Or use the existing Yoga warehouse and get your own personal Greppy on it that only a subset of people can share? Or something else?
That's what the googley eyes are for! Ideally, this isn't the only "greppy" design (:
Okay I'm 100% biased, but this is something I've enjoyed working with as well. It's made developing a self-balancing greppy super easy :)
My whole perspective changed greatly when I started to define success to be focused on what I want to be true about how I spent my time each day (e.g. on something I was truly passionate about), rather than an outcome like some financial event or some position.

Of course, it took me years to figure out what I would be passionate about doing that I would also earn a living off of!

Not more expensive than high power servo-motors! Hard to get low-RPM and position control from most drone motor controllers for robotics. I think it's mostly just different use-cases :)

Re:RBT News: News for roboticists on Tuesday October 13, 2015 @05:26PM (#10383597)
Definitely think that's possible! Will check with the telescopeapp maintainers
Re:RBT News: News for roboticists on Tuesday October 13, 2015 @04:42PM (#10383340)
I'm the maintainer of this site -- happy to answer questions.

I made it primarily because hacker news and Reddit don't have regular enough news updates on the robotics industry for what I wanted :)

I used telescope app, an open source project to get it up and running.

Seek out mentors ASAP. Don't be shy to ask the best & brightest you know.
Re:The Essence of Founding a Company Is This on Thursday July 18, 2013 @05:08PM (#6066502)
Good point. I'm specifically talking about founders who are shooting for 100mm in revenue companies (the kinds VCs would invest in). Sorry -- I thought everyone in the silicon valley defined entrepreneurs in the same way? ;-)
