Re:Druid: A Real-Time Analytical Data Store on Thursday July 28, 2022 @03:12AM (#32261339)
Several years back, I was running it on a single server along with Kafka ( I was requested to keep everything related to analytics to a single huge server ) and it started with a fight for zookeeper between these two. While it worked quite well thereafter, keeping it up was a battle.

Maybe situation is better with clusters and Kafka moving away from zookeeper.

Re:Ask HN: What do you use to build auth? on Wednesday June 29, 2022 @11:24AM (#31921489)
Well, I wrote one with rust and actix-web for exact same purpose.

In my opinion, writing basic auth is simple and safe if you keep OWASP guidelines and other best practices in mind but adding features like SSO and MFA etc is complicated. With that said, almost everything else I tried feels so heavy and slow that I'm sticking with mine for now.

If I've to use prebuilt solutions, I'll pick one that is open source and can be self hosted.

Show HN: VSCode Extension to jump between local git repositories

Hi HN,I've a lot of repositories on my local machine and previously I was using Project Manager extension, but I had some issues with it -- It was kind of slow.- It showed ignored repositories.- It was not completely open source.- There was no automated grouping for repositories. So, I ended up creating my own that does everything above. It's still in early stage but I use it on daily...

Annoyed by amount of tooling required to render markdown, nunjucks and front-matter, I wrote this cli and used it for all of my static sites. Since then, I’ve mostly migrated my sites to nextjs.

Surprisingly, when looking at dependent projects, people tend to put it in their dependency tree for weird reasons.

Re:Either Namecheap or INRegistry is wrong on Friday June 12, 2020 @04:57AM (#23497364)
That's right but their email response says that they and their all registrars hide sensitive information. When I checked manually, most does but not Namecheap. Even if Namecheap does not violates GDPR, Namecheap still blamed registry while registry says otherwise.
Re:Either Namecheap or INRegistry is wrong on Friday June 12, 2020 @04:52AM (#23497346)
I had a long email discussion with Namecheap and they said that INRegistry is the one to blame. Now INRegitry said opposite of what Namecheap said. I am seriously confused which of these two are wrong. One is wrong for sure.

Update:- Looks like INRegistry and Namecheap will communicate directly.

Re:More Productive Git on Saturday May 25, 2019 @02:32AM (#20007453)
Agreed. Specially, flags of these commands are actual magic when it comes to productivity, at least for me. For example, not all flags of git commit command are used frequently but they perform a lot of different operations and can be easily combined to save the day.

Re:Sublime Text 3.2 Released on Wednesday March 13, 2019 @09:05PM (#19385612)
Of Course it is, to some extent. https://github.com/Microsoft/Typescript-Sublime-Plugin combined with https://github.com/Thom1729/Sublime-JS-Custom is enough for me. Though, I tend to customize them for personal use and my experiment goes to https://github.com/subpack

Thanks for pointing out. Being a non native speaker, I ain't ashamed. Deleted though as it was bad idea to submit something like that here.

Submitted it here so that someone can review/add something much better.
Re:Stack Overflow Culture on Sunday March 18, 2018 @11:15AM (#16612311)
It's the easiest thing in the world for the giver, but to the receiver it feels like a kick in the gut. It definitely contributes to the feeling of hostility.

I have several well recived answers there but I have never downvoted anyone because leaving it as is feels right than downvoting for the reasons you mentioned. I never asked a question there and tried figuring out the answers based on existing resources and on my own and it helped me learning a lot. This might not be the right way but being hostile and downvoting feels more than disagreement to me. This is the reason why I avoid being there.

Just a markdown file with emojis and special characters is enough for me.
