Package managers like apt will delay automatic updates for a random time to avoid this problem:

Re:JPEG XL vs. AVIF for web use-cases on Thursday October 15, 2026 @10:34AM (#50104287)
From the article:

> for those of you who don't have the time, here are the headlines:

> For lossy photos on the web, AVIF almost always produces smaller files than JPEG XL.

> At default effort settings, the best JPEG XL version is typically 15–25% larger than the equivalent AVIF

> Buildings are engineered to trap heat, so the heat doesn't dissipate at night and every day the indoor temperature rises, and rises

This makes insulation sound like a bad thing. The more insulation you have the less the indoor temperature is affected by the outside temperature.

Firefox 158 will ship with it on by default: https://groups.google.com/a/mozilla.org/g/dev-platform/c/3YM...

I think it might have something to do with a Rust based decoder becoming available. IIRC one of the reasons for not implementing it before was expanding the attack surface.

Seems Firefox will get support in version 158

I used to do this purely so that I could attach a name, then I found out that you can add a message when stashing: `git stash push -m "trying a thing"`

It appears that BitBucket also does not currently support SHA256 hashes.

Some would consider spending over $200 on hardware keys an issue.

Because serialisation and deserialisation have a price and you almost never need what you describe

Where are you getting those numbers from? The minified code is about 40kB before compression and about 13kB with gzip.
