Re:Hang on to Your Firefox on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @09:47PM (#49530789)
I am definitely hanging on my Firefox!

Personally I have the same view to things like Github, Google, and many companies/products that offer public services (largely) for free for mass.

Granted they have their own monetization scheme behind it, I don't feel I am entitled to used them, I feel grateful regardless.

Re:OTel Isn't Going Well (and I Made a Spreadsheet About It) on Saturday August 22, 2026 @09:34PM (#49405487)
I also think OTel SDKs are a tad bit too prescriptive, but at the same time I can't envision what a better version would look like.

The core of logs and spans are just wide events with some inter-connections, those SDKs and OTel docs make them less obvious.

I did consider tmducken in the beginning.

(Disclaimer: I maintain o11ylite)

Hmmm, how could this post be possibly a good thing for Anthropic?
jank is another one

Show HN: OpenTelemetry x DuckDB(Ducklake), SQLite, Clojure

https://github.com/o11ylite/o11ylite

O11yLite is a free, open-source OpenTelemetry backend built on DuckDB/Ducklake, SQLite, Clojure.I started this as a project to build an observability stack for my homelab. After years of using the established OSS tools, they felt fragmented, had a steep learning curve, and often inflexible. I wanted to build a Honeycomb-like experience that unifies logs, metrics, and traces in a single tool...

Re:Wikipedia: WikiProject AI Cleanup on Monday January 19, 2026 @07:19PM (#46686390)
Isn't this a losing battle? Since the goal post keeps moving as new LLM comes out each month.
Re:The insecure evangelism of LLM maximalists on Wednesday January 14, 2026 @02:19AM (#46613291)
I feel any LLM discussion without mentioning concrete tooling choices are unproductive. Toolings are evolving so fast, many statements that were accurate two months ago are simply wrong today.
Re:AI has a deep understanding of how this code works on Wednesday November 26, 2025 @05:03AM (#46055915)
I wonder if it's the best outcome? The contributor doesn't seem to have a bad intention, could his energy be redirected more constructively? E.g. encouraging him to split up the PR, make a design proposal etc.
With pocket sunsetting, I have been searching for alternatives lately. After a few rounds of search, I can't convince myself to use specialized bookmarks tool over Notion / Obsidian. I wonder what other people feel?
Re:Bitwarden introduces mandatory 2FA for new devices on Tuesday January 28, 2025 @07:38PM (#42860014)
Although currently Bitwarden Passkey is completely broken on Android.

I switched to other providers because of this.

Re:Kubernetes on Hetzner: cutting my infra bill by 75% on Monday December 02, 2024 @04:11AM (#42294461)
I feel lots of the work described in the article can be automated by kops, probably in a much better way, especially when it comes to day 2 operations.

I wonder what is the motivation behind manually spinning up a cluster instead of going with more established tooling?

Re:Proton launches its own version of Google Docs on Thursday July 04, 2024 @09:39AM (#40874871)
The fact that it requires slowly changing over years is a sign of getting stuck no? We can theoretically slowly migrate anything. But when effort > X, we consider it being stuck.
