Ask HN: What do you use to make CLIs?

I am curious what people reach for when writing CLIs these days; specifically what language, libraries (if any), and why?By CLI, I mean any executable program or script like git that supports commands, sub-commands, and POSIX-style flags.I mostly work in Go, and have been happy with the standard library[1] or Cobra[2]. I also write a lot of shell scripts.I thought it would be interesting to see...

Ask HN: How do you set up a VPS for personal projects?

I have manually followed DigitalOcean's guides in the past with success[1][2]. Do you go beyond what the linked guides recommend or use a configuration management solution (e.g. Ansible)? I'm curious what, if anything, people are doing.[1] https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/initial-server-setup-with-ubuntu-14-04 [2]...

It sounds like the wiki was rewritten recently as a single page app which is what is causing the slowdown.

See https://github.com/WardCunningham/remodeling#remodeling which is linked from the footer of the wiki.

Until the redesign goes live, there are a few viable alternatives on mobile.

I have been using a mobile-friendly version of Hacker News called HackerWeb on my phone and tablet: http://cheeaun.github.io/hackerweb/

A handful of browser add-ons exist that will update the visual design and generally make the site more pleasurable to use. Here's one for Chrome: http://gabrielecirulli.github.io/hn-special/

Re:iMessage purgatory on Tuesday May 13, 2014 @07:15PM (#7741208)
I switched to a Nexus 5 recently. I deactivated iMessage, ensured my phone was no longer registered with Apple and asked friends to delete existing conversations.

It has been about a week and I still cannot receive text messages from iPhone users I've iMessaged in the past.

What is perhaps most frustrating is that Apple seems incapable of changing the situation. Adding insult to injury, Apple is requiring that I pay a $20 fee to speak with a technician.

Looks interesting. A note to the author: that post is very difficult to read on mobile. Setting a width on your container will go a long way to improve readability (e.g. .wrapper { max-width: 90%; margin: 0 auto; }).

Quoted from the figure caption under the two candlestick charts on the right-hand side of the article: "People who report drinking one or two alcoholic beverages daily and getting around seven hours of sleep nightly performed best on a Lumosity game that measures spatial memory, a recent study of more than 160,000 users reveals."
