It's not illegal, but it's certainly dishonest.
Re:What's the use for Bitcoin? on Thursday April 02, 2015 @02:15PM (#9312419)
This is a broad generalization that it's used for illegal purposes.

My (very legal) business accepts Bitcoin. I don't have many customers using that form of payment, but chances are I may not have them if I didn't accept it.

I don't really care what form of payment you want to use.

Re:Mac App Store: The Subtle Exodus on Tuesday October 14, 2014 @02:44PM (#8454999)
Ok, so Coda 2.5, BBEdit, TextExpander and other developer-type apps can't be in the App Store because they can't be sandboxed. Fine, if it's a developer-type tool that has to do things most everyday users aren't going to need, do it outside the Mac App Store. For everything else, the Mac App Store is great.

In fact, I'm such a fan of the Mac App Store that I wish every app could conform to it's rules so I wouldn't have to dig out a lame license key, or heaven help me, email the vendor for some time sensitive generated key thing.

Good luck getting underneath furniture or cabinet overhangs!
Re:Amazon’s Twitch Acquisition Is Official on Monday August 25, 2014 @02:01PM (#8223002)
Amazon.com Inc. has agreed to acquire Twitch, a live-streaming service for videogame players, for more than $1 billion, according to a person who has been briefed on the matter.

The deal could be announced as soon as Monday, the person said.

Google Inc. had earlier been in talks to acquire Twitch, but those talks cooled in recent weeks, according to people familiar with the matter.

Twitch, launched in June 2011, is the most popular Internet destination for watching and broadcasting videogame play. The startup raised $20 million from investors, including Thrive Capital and videogame-maker Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. in September.

News of the acquisition was earlier reported by tech website The Information.

What Steve is referring to is how fonts up until the Mac were monospaced. The Mac included proportional fonts in different sizes.

Yes, Safari supports source maps (has for a while).
Re:Coda 2.5 and the Mac App Store on Wednesday May 14, 2014 @08:35PM (#7747384)
I certainly hope their new syncing is better than their Transmit Dropbox implementation. I had to stop using sync it was so bad.

I prefer MAS apps because of how easy it is to purchase, install and update. I'm particularly annoyed when an app is available in the App Store and is then pulled out later. By then, I've already purchased and have to transition, awkwardly, to a non App Store version.

This isn't the first developer tool that's done this for me.

Re:Why don’t designers take Android seriously? on Monday March 24, 2014 @12:06AM (#7456630)
Fragmentation is a real thing, not laziness. Almost 98% of Android users don't run KitKat.

Bummer.

Not even attempting to be responsive?
Re:SteamOS: It's here on Friday December 13, 2013 @07:49PM (#6903908)
Why would this be limited to Steam? I bought a game on the PSN Store that wasn't even playable. I asked for a refund and didn't get it.

As someone who sells a digital product, I completely understand the No Refund policy.

A different article I read said that tips actually went up.

The system doesn't eliminate human interaction, it just streamlines certain things. Eliminating paper marketing for drinks and desserts could end up saving them a lot of money.

Re:The Only Way to Grow Huge on Tuesday December 03, 2013 @05:24PM (#6843630)
There's a lot to this that rings true. I think the core idea here is that growing slowly, with your customers, is how you get big.

In those early days of running a business, spending money on marketing is no way to guarantee new revenue. Word of mouth almost always is. Plus, it's a hell of a lot cheaper.

Re:Please stop live tweeting people’s private conversations on Sunday December 01, 2013 @10:48AM (#6827698)
Ugh, if you are in public it's not private. Might as well rename the title to "Please stop live tweeting people's public conversations" if you want to make a real point.
Re:Shopify Merchants Can Now Accept Bitcoin on Wednesday November 27, 2013 @11:56AM (#6809287)
This is very interesting. Half of my customers are international and accepting Bitcoin might increase that number.

Definitely going to check this out.

What I find most interesting about this company is that he's never advertised. He started selling it locally to cooks and it spread by word of mouth.
At the end of the audiobook, Card talks at length about the difficulties getting an Ender's Game movie made.

One problem was that the studios always wanted to make Ender an older teenager and to give him a love interest.

Another was that the screenplay was always challenging because most of the book takes place inside Ender's head. Once he figured out that he could tell Ender's thought processes through Bean, it finally opened up the screenplay.

Okay, fine. I will pay more up front to watch TV as it happens. But, you can't complain that HBO Go isn't available without a cable subscription anymore.
Re:GoDaddy Buys Media Temple on Tuesday October 15, 2013 @01:59PM (#6555078)
A bit surprising, but I have no plans to move away from Media Temple, even though I'm not crazy about GoDaddy.

The feature I want the most? Safari's new web inspector.

Everything else is just icing on the cake.

Re:Confusing UI in iOS7 on Tuesday September 24, 2013 @01:47PM (#6439488)
The timer circles go gray when touched to indicate you can hold the button and then let go when you are ready.
I really don't understand why in the world they would consolidate their menu into an "app launcher" for every single view. This is the opposite of responsive design.

Here's some free web design advice, Google: I'm not on my iPhone or iPad all the time. Show me some links if I have the room - it doesn't have to even be all of them.

Re:Stripe: Redesign status page as part of job application on Thursday August 29, 2013 @12:47PM (#6296866)
This is just silly. Any good web designer should be able to point to a body of work and that should be enough to test their skills.
Re:Crosswords don’t make you clever on Tuesday August 20, 2013 @03:22PM (#6245953)
It does:

What about playing an instrument? Don’t you have to use right and left brain for a stringed instrument?

Yes. That has clear cognitive functions that do crossover. Especially learning to play and read the music at the same time. But exercise is number one, diet number two and then social interaction. These are the important things for brain function.
Re:The Great App.net Mistake on Tuesday August 20, 2013 @03:18PM (#6245933)
In other words, normal people that use Twitter or Instagram still have no clue what App.net is and the early adopters of App.net will eventually get tired of it.
