Re:Earn 43 cents every time you infect a Mac on Monday September 28, 2009 @08:21AM (#848269)
No, I was more thinking about you installing it yourself on your Vm, then reinstalling it on anohter etc... thus cheating the system ;)
Re:Earn 43 cents every time you infect a Mac on Friday September 25, 2009 @05:21AM (#843163)
Virtual machines, anyone? :-)
It's only logical to conclude that Chrome standalone must run at least 8 times faster than Internet Explorer 8? Otherwise their gui would be much slower.

Why wasn't there a post about this before? This post must be complete bullshit.

Re:Gelato brings real-time search to online dating on Tuesday September 22, 2009 @05:37PM (#838013)
I'm never interested in women working in the same profession than I'm working in, having the same views, etc... I don't need someone to acknowledge everything I say. I can do that myself.
Re:One letter Domains in danger of extinction on Saturday September 19, 2009 @11:03AM (#832017)
If you can't afford it, sell it :-)

If your startup participates in Microsoft Bizspark, you can use every Microsoft software for free for 3 years.
Re:Using Amazon S3 to host a static copy of your site on Monday September 14, 2009 @09:49AM (#821621)

Re:Dear jetBlue... on Thursday September 03, 2009 @08:13PM (#803924)
They could also use the bus and talk to people.

If they don't show up, they should pay the price!

Re:Japan building 1GW, $21bn solar power station in space on Wednesday September 02, 2009 @07:11AM (#799855)
Bad luck for the guy having his house under the solar panels. He will have no sunlight even if there are no clouds on the sky ;)
Re:Apple kicks ZFS in the butt on Sunday August 30, 2009 @12:06PM (#794616)
Well, they can integrate it in their next service pack then and charge another 50$! :-)
Re:*.apache.org is currently offline. on Friday August 28, 2009 @07:27AM (#791163)
The Infrastructure Team of The Apache Software Foundation is currently investigating a potential compromise of one of our servers. For security reasons most apache.org services are therefore offline, but will be restored shortly. We apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

10:42am UTC: Compromise was due to a compromised SSH Key, not due to any software exploits in Apache itself.

More details soon.

10:53am UTC: We have restored services on our european mirror machine which was not compromised. DNS should be shifting you over right about ... now..

you my friend, are a mac troll which likes to pay money for service packs (which you get for free when you would be using windows).
Re:How To Fly Without ID on Sunday August 16, 2009 @06:29PM (#766897)
Yeah, play hard ball and you hopefully will go to jail. What's the problem of showing your id?
Re:How To Fly Without ID on Sunday August 16, 2009 @06:28PM (#766892)
You have to carry your ID card in all the european countries!

At least in Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, France, Germany and also in Switzerland (not EU)

Re:How To Fly Without ID on Sunday August 16, 2009 @06:25PM (#766886)
If you have lost your passport, you have to go to a police station and make a claim. You can only board the plane with that claim (and there is normaly a police station on every major airport)

And PS: I hope that they wouldn't let in the ignorant author of the article in without a valid passport.

Re:Ask HN: Where do you live? on Monday August 10, 2009 @08:18AM (#752666)
The Moon, USA space territory.
It's not like in linux where you have to install all the updates yourself by hand!

Windows Update baby!

What happens if you only send 1/3 of the conversions to google?

Do you have to pay a higher conversion price then?

Re:Sam Sethi wins case against Michael Arrington on Monday August 03, 2009 @08:20AM (#739045)
I'm not sure, but I think he could expand the legal rulling to other european countries as well. So Arrignton won't be allowed to visit those other countries as well.
Re:Firefox: it's just too darned expensive on Sunday August 02, 2009 @11:08AM (#737498)
IE is also free and more secure. Why would they want to switch?
Re:Of Spiders and Scrapers: Decomposing Web Pages 101 on Friday July 31, 2009 @08:18AM (#734228)
That's not true.

The european legislation has explicitely made an exception taht you are able to download and cache the document, as long as it is necessary for something to work (eg browser). Or if you are using it for personal use only.

But otherwise, storing a copyrighted document is illegal (interstingly twitter messages are not considered copyrighted).

Re:Of Spiders and Scrapers: Decomposing Web Pages 101 on Thursday July 30, 2009 @09:25AM (#732134)
Scraping is theft. Alone downloading and storing a copyrighted article is forbidden by law in certain countries.

It doesn't matter if you make the article public then or not.

Re:Imagine Pot Was Legal. How Would You Brand It? on Wednesday July 29, 2009 @04:02PM (#730887)
Hopefully Pot will be legal in the USA so the rest of the world (especially china) can take over world domination :)
Re:Ask HN: What to do when your company misses payroll? on Tuesday July 28, 2009 @02:10PM (#728437)
It depends on where you live. In european countries (I'm pretty sure that it's the case in Switzerland) you will always get your salary for the last 3 months! If the company goes bankrupt, an insurance will pay.
Re:Ion engine could one day power 39-day trips to Mars on Friday July 24, 2009 @05:36AM (#721203)

Re:Zero-day OpenSSH vulnerability? on Monday July 20, 2009 @12:08PM (#714600)

Re:Ask HN: Twitter and Spam on Tuesday July 14, 2009 @10:27AM (#703729)
Every tweet is junk.
