Re:Ferrari Luce – Designed with Jony Ive on Tuesday May 26, 2026 @09:16AM (#48279434)
Looks like a significant departure from classic Ferrari styling and Italian thought to some American half arsed futurist dream version of a Mini.

I didn't work at BMD but worked for a cine distributor supplying lenses to be tested. But yes, lean clean company that works well.
The people say "tax the rich".

Tax AI is the answer.

LTO via LTFS is probably your best long term bet.

However, traditional spinning rust (multiple copies) is probably the easiest.

Sans DIY solutions, cloud infrastructure would be the costly alternative.

Re:Gemini 3 Pro Model Card on Tuesday November 18, 2025 @08:55AM (#45966007)
According to Gemini itself:

"Google Antigravity" refers to a new AI software platform announced by Google designed to help developers write and manage code.

The term itself is a bit of a placeholder or project name, combining the brand "Google" with the concept of "antigravity"—implying a release from the limitations of traditional coding.

In simple terms, Google Antigravity is a sophisticated tool for programmers that uses powerful AI systems (called "agents") to handle complex coding tasks automatically. It takes the typical software workbench (an IDE) and evolves it into an "agent-first" system.

Agentic Platform: It's a central hub where many specialized AI helpers (agents) live and work together. The goal is to let you focus on what to build, not how to build it.

Task-Oriented: The platform is designed to be given a high-level goal (a "task") rather than needing line-by-line instructions.

Autonomous Operation: The AI agents can work across all your tools—your code editor, the command line, and your web browser—without needing you to constantly supervise or switch between them.

Breast cancer affects men too.
As a recent QLD convert thanks for this. I had been wondering why the water up here was so hard.
Re:Canon EF and RF Lenses – All Autofocus Motors on Monday March 10, 2025 @10:42AM (#43321209)
Difference between G and E-type lenses is that 'E' stands for Electromagnetic Diaphrapham.

The G type lenses have an aperture tab for diaphrapham control as dictated by the camera body, the E-type lenses leave this to being controlled by the camera electronically.

Re:Why Is Warner Brothers Discovery Dumping Old Movies on YouTube? on Wednesday February 05, 2025 @09:02PM (#42958093)
Yes however, the original broadcast contracts may not have clauses in them for streaming services so having to revisit those contracts would be a costly process.
Re:The Reality of Dating Apps on Tuesday February 04, 2025 @10:33PM (#42943370)
Can confirm as a good looking male, I slay on apps compared to my peers.

However I believe it also boils down to personality traits too.

Saying "Hi" isn't enough. One needs to be creative to stand out from the field. Women get absolutely swamped on the apps.

Same. Wonder how common this is.
I saw this, this morning and thought OP was linking to the same. Odd.

Re:Nikon Z9 Disassembly and Teardown on Monday June 27, 2022 @11:21AM (#31895817)
There are contractual agreements in place to use certain designs over a given period of time.

Therefore, Sony can invest and Nikon can benefit from Sony's products. It is a bit of a win-win situation. Otherwise, Nikon would be force to use another supplier's sensors (as they do and have done already in the past). Nikon don't have the capability to produce large scale sensors for their cosumer imaging devices at the present time and likely won't for the foreseeable future.

It has been censored enough, given the timeframe and previous disclosure to ABC. Good article though.

Re:Ask HN: Why is there no small Android phone? on Sunday February 20, 2022 @08:19AM (#30405451)
Component cost was a barrier to larger size. Just like DSLRs started out with APS-C sized sensors, handsets started out with smaller screens.
Surprised it isn't running a CANBUS system.

Pretty bitter blog tbh. Not sure he's really gotten over his ex-wife.
100% agree as a former 'pro' photographer. The market is totally saturated now, digital plays a part in that. Like you've mentioned, you've got to be brilliant and have qualities that extend far beyond your creative aspects. Ideally you have better than good business skills because being a bloody good photographer means more than selling your images, you need to sell yourself.
