Ask HN: Rejecting client work at last minute

I’m a junior dev ( < 1 year ) and I was doing some work for a company, I vibe with the team and mostly do CSS ( which I love and they badly need it ), today they offered me a work contract for a year...the problem is I never thought they would give me a contract and started interviewing for another gig.Despite the red flag of the junior profile the guys from the new gig chose me ( but no...

Ditch Android and move to iOS? You can still use Android and not be tied to Google Apps.
Snipcart might solve your problem!
TV is usually not user generated content though...

Waterworld ?
Each country will experience what you said, even both sometimes or one being the cause of the other.

Look at France with the Gilets Jaunes ( uprising ) and the soon to be followed populists winning the elections ( I sincerely hope not ).

Altho' I don't think capitalism is at cause here but definitely part of the problem and the solution.

Re:How the Languages We Speak Shape Our Realities on Saturday March 30, 2019 @07:45AM (#19528940)
Based on my experience whenever I switch between French/English or Romanian my thought process or even how I feel can hugely differ!

My friends noticed that I will get angry much more faster if I'm in "Romanian mode" than French.

Re:Why Don’t More Humans Eat Bugs? (2018) on Sunday February 10, 2019 @04:17AM (#19127026)
My ex roomate was growing mealworms for his iguana and we even ate them.

Raising it was super hard, it was in a plastic box with a few lights, fed our food waste and kept in a closet.

The trick is to get people to eat them, I tried and it was tasting like chips but I wasn't too hard to convince, my girlfriend on the other end couldnt even look at them...We managed to sneak some one day and she liked it but lost any trust in the food my roomate or myself cooked.

The dialed toaster! I have one and probably had one of the funniest nights with my girlfriend being drunk and doing "burning" test with different bread, etc...I own that toaster for years and yet still burn a few slices once in a while.

A lot of people nowadays just want a streamlined experience or doesnt bother to look/experience.

Re:Amazon’s Power Reviewers on Sunday January 27, 2019 @03:29AM (#19010897)
For English reviews the price is around 2$ or 3$, but for another language the price can go up, not by much but the price would be around 5$.

I used to do it to make beer money as a student a few years ago and I still hang in those "black market" forums and the price went lower few years a decent review in English was 5$.

Re:Rebooting Communist Kicks for Modern Sneakerheads on Friday January 25, 2019 @12:23PM (#19000118)
This will cater to a reaaaaaally small portions of sneakerheads.

Hipsters and likes will be target, will there is a lot of search of old sneakers etc...I've yet to see someone look for soviet sneakers.

I wish my girlfriend who became addicted to Kondo who stop doing this in the kitchen.

I worked in kitchen since I was a kid and always had my mis en place ( the kitchen is sacred for me ), whenever she does it you can hear me swearing because I cant find coffee, my knife sharpener or because she rearranged my knives setting causing me to try to cut bread with a chinese cleaver!

Altho' the bedroom is a bliss to find stuff in now.

Always have proxies when doing a long list of those or you will get banned for 24 to 32 hours or even worse the Captcha's from hell who never seems to work.
Re:Why I use old hardware on Thursday January 24, 2019 @05:15AM (#18987398)
The big problem with NOS battery is that sometimes its a gamble! I bought one off eBay for my x230 and I had to change it.

But the seller was cool enough to change it ( getting 4-5 hours ) and a smaller one which gets me around 2 hours more.

Europe has HBO Go and it cost 2.99 ( in Romania at least ) euros per month. I cancelled my Netflix has I have HBO GO included in my internet package and use mostly Usenet or Torrents and my Raspberry Pi / PS4 for all my media consumption.
This! My father used to work out when we were kids while we were playing video games, brushing teeth, homeworks, etc...I still remember him teaching me the multiplication table while doing pushups or pull ups and asking me : I did 3 sets of 8 pull ups, how much does it makes ? Good times

Re:Coolest Things I Learned in 2018 on Tuesday January 08, 2019 @10:40AM (#18856254)
Certainly is...I'm in the new status symbol but without the influence ( which I dont really care about ) and most people that know me are calling me a wanker etc...Same at work but whenever they cant do something the wanker/Excel monkey becomes god on Earth.

Cultural POV must play a lot but your environment, education does too I guess.

I lost mine in France when I was 21 ( got it at 18yo ), I'm 27 now and just starting again you can travel Europe quite easily the big problem where I live now is I need it more and more due to work.
I felt the same when moving to Romania, they have a different way of counting money compared to France. I barely paid attention to it until one of the ladies from shop told me.

Cultural difference is found in a lot of small things you do in your daily life, it's just like that scene from Inglourious Bastards when he is showing the German 3 and the British 3.
