Re:Ask HN: Can ChatGPT generate fully functional code? on Friday December 09, 2022 @05:43AM (#33919889)
Yes! The calculator worked and I agree with you that in most of my prompts when I have requested to give elaborated answers, it doesn't give appropriate results.

Here is the response that I got after the "continue" command and its still incomplete.

Ask HN: Can ChatGPT generate fully functional code?

Fellow members,I'm curious to know what are some of the best prompts to use on ChatGPT to understand its full-fledged capability as a newbie developer. One of the things I noticed, is that it produces the requested code in the cleanest manner but it's not complete. For instance, I tried the prompt - "give me the python code for TicTacToe Game" and the code produced was incomplete.Have you all...

Re:Ask HN: Is this the fastest Python Sandbox available? on Wednesday November 23, 2022 @09:35AM (#33719583)
I can't comment on the claim of being the fastest but when I attempted to run one of my code snippets it took a little time to produce the output as compared to Trinket.

I definitely liked the layout and user experience unlike Replit where I have to pass through a sign-up wall to access sandboxes.

I was not able to figure out if we can have a public/private sandbox.

As developers, we've used StackOverflow, blogs, tutorials, etc to solve our day-to-day code issues and we've been able to find answers to virtually all of our questions. At the same time, CodePen, CodeSandbox, JSFiddle, etc have made it simple to share and execute code for frontend developers but when I look for folks working at the backend side (preferably Python) there is nothing that entices...

Re:Tell HN: You can get into YC without a product on Monday November 14, 2022 @07:33AM (#33593070)
Well, we got selected on our 3rd attempt. The first time we had our MVP and followed the approach of not needing the product. The second time we had a full-fledged product but not a proven PMF. The third time is where we had a decent product, 50K+ app installs without any performance marketing, 45% MoM user retention.

Our success was purely based when we ticked all three boxes: 1. Product 2. Team 3. Growth

I've updated the premise. Thanks for pointing it out.

Ask HN: Employees personal brand – Threat or Weapon?

Hello Stranger,Considering the current scenario where every employee in the team is an aspiring or budding creator in their niche, what do you think of it as a founder or recruiter? In my 1st experience as a manager, management asked me to reject candidates who are more invested in their own thing stating they won't devote much time to their jobs and responsibilities.Currently, I'm encountering...

Re:Ask HN: Is it a good time to start freelancing? on Monday November 07, 2022 @06:06AM (#33504345)
IMHO, this is the perfect time to start building for yourself because 2023 is going to be highly unpredictable in terms of your main stint stability. Companies will start finding freelancers instead of full-timers for their non-core verticals.

Have I missed the post from Mr. Musk where he mentioned this recently?

Yes. Still the same for me. Been more than 1 hour.
Re:Ask HN: How browser products achieve PMF? on Wednesday November 02, 2022 @08:29AM (#33434636)
I completely understand the effort of building a secure enterprise browser but is there a need in the market and is the market big enough that it is a sustainable business? How will a browser replace existing user habits in the long run?

IMHO, the missing piece is to figure out how to turn a browser to replace the existing browser in a user's system and ensures the end user never turns back to the old one after using the new one.

Re:Ask HN: How browser products achieve PMF? on Wednesday November 02, 2022 @08:26AM (#33434603)
Yes PMF means Product Market Fit and TAM stands for - Total Addressable Market. Here's a quick link to read more:

Ask HN: How browser products achieve PMF?

Google Chrome/Safari is an excellent browser for browsing and I've been using it for about 10+ years now.I'm more curious to understand if there is an actual need for new browsers that Chrome/Safari are not able to provide or if it's just a TAM game where the focus of upcoming browser products is to cater to a specific audience.Would love to know what's the thought behind coming up with a new...

I and my team have been working on this article where we will build a simple Django application, containerize it, and then deploy it on a Docker Swarm with horizontal scaling in mind.

Would love to get your feedback if this is helpful and I'm open to any sort of changes.

100% aligned. The missing piece for me to fix is to become an active consumer of Reddit which currently I'm not.
My Reddit is currently very weak and I'm trying to stay active and participate in discussions. I think it's a gradual process.
