Chinese are sad riples in the pond. "IT IS US IT IS US". No... the ripples come from a drop in the pond which is a singular event. It is not your choosing. You have failed.

I have a slight inclination that tells me that deepseek is propped up by Chinese government and like an iceberg there are much deeper things going on. I don't know what though.

Ask HN: What Does Deepseek Mean?

Can anyone explain the impact of deepseek in a simple manner? I've heard that it basically China undercutting the US Algorithms on LLMs so they can train for much cheaper. Does this mean I should short sell NVIDIA? Is OpenAI inflated in valu?? WTF is going on? I really honestly have no idea what to make of the recent news. Someone help explain it simply.

Re:Is there life after FAANG? on Saturday January 11, 2025 @02:29PM (#42668310)
They put on me on a team where there is one long term guy who is the only one who knows how the system works. Because of that he gets away with everything because they can't fire him. So my job is to be a backup expert in the system but he fights my progress because he doesn't want to lose his power.

Is there life after FAANG?

I dreamed for years to get into FAANG and now I want out. I get paged 20 times yesterday from 4AM to 1AM next day. I feel like quitting and spending the rest of my life hunting for truffles deep in the forest. Am I the fool and will regret it? Did you quit FAANG and regret it?

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer was written by a great Jewish man, how cool is that! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_L._May

Rudolph has an odd nose, and he gets chosen to lead all the other Reindeer! Kids love this song. You teach it to them when they are young and they'll never forget it!

I disagree. My blog is quite robust and optimal

I'll tell you my experience with Zig. I don't have any. I saw maybe Primagen talking about it and I see your post here. I watched 10 minutes of your vimeo video. I see it has 30k+ stars on github. So now I have to try to understand it in a nutshell.

First like any language, I go to indeed.com and put in "Zig" to see if there are any jobs listed which use it. I don't see any.

Then I click to https://ziglang.org/ and it describes Zig as "robust, optimal and reusable". Well that doesn't really say much of anything.

I read the example listed, which appears to be a test case, and I wonder how the 'try' mechanism works without a 'catch'

Then I go to https://ziglang.org/documentation/master/ and see that it says: Robust Behavior is correct even for edge cases such as out of memory.

I wonder how that works, but there are no links to support this claim.

I read a little more then move on.

This isn't to say anything one way or another about Zig, its just my 30 minutes of reading about Zig.
