Re:What if nobody wants to talk to your AI assistant? on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @09:57AM (#50166572)
If there’s no rule that says you have to tell people it’s AI then yes, I think that’s exactly where this goes. But I expect regulations to force it, at least in the EU. Kind of like in my country where TV has to show a label when a program or commercial contain product placement. And single commercial block can be like 90% AI slop now.
Re:GPT‑6 and Intelligent UI for everyone on Thursday October 08, 2026 @07:23AM (#50004494)
I might be wrong but I remember that when Gemini 3 was released they also kind of promised something similar. But I’ve never actually seen it in real conversations. I’m not a heavy Gemini user so it’s possible it’s there but I haven’t seen a single demo showing this.
Re:Claude Haiku 5.5 on Thursday October 08, 2026 @07:18AM (#50004451)
With those cheaper models being released, it’s always kind of tricky to decide which one to use. For example, if Luna is still cheaper but Haiku is a bit smarter, which one would you use?
Re:Mistral Large 4 on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @01:35PM (#49981633)
Even if it's not the best model, it can be really important step in UE sovereignty. Trained in EU, inference in EU. I guess it will matter for some companies. Hope Mistral won't disappear for the next half year.
Re:Beam: Reflection's 501B open-weight model on Monday October 05, 2026 @04:54PM (#49970574)
Is it worse than the top open-weight Chinese models? Yes, it is, but at least the West has joined the party, and hopefully they will iterate on this and keep up the pace. The Chinese labs will certainly release new and powerful versions soon, so it's all about relative pace right now.
