Re:Stripe is no longer a suitable payment processor on Wednesday August 02, 2023 @05:09AM (#36968669)
I have been using Paypal for 5 years for my startup and I don't have any major problems with Paypal. Sometimes, customers filed a case agaist us and Paypal decided that the case was closed in customer's favor although we did nothing wrong. However, it's very rare.

I have no idea about Stripe because it doesn't support Viet Nam. Paypal is very good payment gateway for my startup.
Congrat. Good work. I have some Google workspace addons. You can promote the addon via Reddit, Twitter, ProductHunt and Facebook.
My father passed away 4 years ago because of lung cancer. Fu*k cancer. I wish you the longest possible time.
It's very bad for crypto investors
Yes. Investors fear that there aren't stable coin anymore. Luna's stable coin is a good example.

Could Binance be next FTX because it endured 1 billion of net outflows on today?

CoinDesk said that Binance Withdrawals Surge as Concerns About Its Reserve Report Spook Traders. Reuters reported that U.S. prosecutors are mulling criminal charges for possible money laundering against Binance and its executives, including CZ. I am very cautious to invest in crypto currencies

Moneyball is a good investing book by Michael Lewis. Legendary investor Bill Miller recommends to read books by Michael Lewis.
Re:Ask HN: What are your “scratch own itch” projects? on Sunday November 13, 2022 @08:34PM (#33589279)
At 2020, we had a pain point in Viet Nam because health official requires to do contact tracing when people went to events, churches, schools so we scratched our own itches and developed QR Code Attendance addon https://workspace.google.com/marketplace/app/qr_code_attenda.... After that, we provide our addon in G Suite marketplace and a lot of customers used our addon for contact tracing, for example take temperature, name, health status of attendees and give data to health official.
Richer, Wiser, Happier: How the World's Greatest Investors Win in Markets and Life by William Green. I learn a lot of lessons from great investors.
Rework by Fried, Jason, Heinemeier Hansson. It's a classic book for a small startup like us. Recession is looming and I am preparing for serious one.
Re:Ask HN: How to Learn to Sell? on Sunday October 16, 2022 @10:15PM (#33229217)
You should read Selling to the Affluent, by Thomas Stanley, author of The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America's Wealthy. I have been learning from this book. You should be a giver, understand customers' needs to sell more effectively.
I posted about my journey in the hacker news post "A disabled 40-year-old person founded a startup and makes a living". Thanks for taking time to read my post. Have a great day
It's sad. Economic depression is looming.
Great job. Congratulations. Besides G Suite Workspace addons, I also work on some QR Code, Barcode IOS apps. I love Swift.
He means no shortcuts for master anything. It takes time, 2000 or 3000 hours or any numbers. People tends to find a shortcut for anything, fox example, buying crypto to get rich quick. I agree that 10000 hours rule is a myth.
I haven't read the Blink yet. I will try to read it in the near future. Thanks for mentioning it.
He's a genius writer and we should be aware of that when reading his books. He could influence us. I think that 10000 hours means that long-term. No shortcut for master anything.
I like your opinion. I founded a startup at 40 as a part time job and it was a correct decision during covid19 crisis. My company is quite successful. It takes about 3000 hours to be sustainable. 10000 hours is an overrated term
I admire you. I hope that I could be healthy to code at 66. Wish you all the best
Congratulation
good examples. Thanks. Recession is looming so i keep both full time developer and startu's CEO as a part time job. We automate most tasks so it's feasible.
Deliberate practice is a craft, not art. I understand 10000 hours in a simpler manner. We need to do our homework, get shi*t done. In the long term, we could get the positive result
Good advice. Thanks. I don't read self-help books. I believe in learning by practice
he's a genious. I live in Viet Nam and the unemployment benefit is not good so I'm cautious to switch career. That's why i founded a company and be a founder and CEO as a part time job.
Thanks for your feedback. Because i'm a disabled person and financial recession is coming so i am very careful to switch career.

10k hours rule to master anything. Could I switch career when I am 43?

Throughout his book "M. Outliers: The Story of Success.", Gladwell repeatedly refers to the “10 000-hour rule,” asserting that the key to achieving true expertise in any skill is simply a matter of practicing. It could be the greatest practice myth. My american boss founded my company in Viet Nam when he was 55. I admire him a lot. Nonetheless, I am still afraid of switching to other job...

Re:Ask HN: What's Your Biggest Regret? on Friday October 07, 2022 @05:10AM (#33119000)
Great question. I wish I would not change anything. Sometimes, I wanted to get out of technology and tried to find another job. Nonetheless, it was a waste of time. I should focus on software development because it's my strength. All of us should use our strength to be a giver. Money will follow.
US should regulate the crypto industry ASAP. A lot of investors are losing money due to scams.
