Nonsense. If it was hacking or going against terms you'd have a point. But I wouldn't do that.

I'm using it exactly the way it was designed to be used; that's why they allowed access via Chat. They've just decided merging is more economical.

Its not misusing the system at all - its accepting a level of friction and inflexibility in turn for cost savings. I've acknowledged its reasonable to change the model.

Claude is already way superior in coding than Open AI atm. So coders are mostly using Claude

The models may switch occasionally in terms of who the class leader is in certain disciplines, but at the top level either provider is enough for professional coders.

Saying that either is only suitable for non-coders sounds gatekeepery and very out of touch.

Re:ChatGPT and Codex usage limits merging on Sunday November 01, 2026 @03:11AM (#50323582)
This absolutely is not a non-issue for people like me who've been getting masses of coding work against github done via Chat without affecting usage.

We use Chat precisely because of that!

It's not unreasonable for them to switch but you really should not be so dismissive, this will likely have a massive effect on many.

Re:ChatGPT and Codex usage limits merging on Sunday November 01, 2026 @03:06AM (#50323561)
Well this sucks, but not unexpected.

I've been using Chat for all my Codex/Work tasks precisely because of the fact it didn't affect usage. Slightly less convenient and smooth but still directly against GitHub repos and other connectors so fantastic value in my Plus plan.

Another reason after the recent Pro 200/500 shenanigans to reevaluate my sub.

All good things and token-burning workarounds come to an end...

No. There's nothing post-hoc about my position.

Some of us have been thinking deeply about this subject for many years.

Long before the LLM era I (and I'm sure many others) considered AI a misnomer in the context of human-level intelligence, tho I did (apparently wrongly) consider sentience a prerequisite.

Trump may be coming at this from different motivations, but it's entirely consistent.

Trump's shenanigans may be funny/deranged depending on your POV, but his message seems to be that calling it Artificial implies limitations not representative of its capabilities - and he is absolutely correct.

ofc his corollary points about implications for American power are debatable; but we are now living for the first time in our history with an alien intelligence that in some cases exceeds our own, and its reasonable to consider how we deal with that on a cultural and political level.

The only bad guys here are those who exploit issues like this for unethical reasons.

You clearly aren't that person.

Regarding your perceived mistake, we all make them.

Please forgive yourself and understand that the negative feelings and thoughts you are having are a mark of decency but do not represent reality, and if they persist please seek help to get you back on track.

As an aside, to you and those like you who take on the task of fighting and protecting against these attacks with often nothing to gain except hurt like this:

Thank you for your service.

See my other response for why engagement is usually pointless in cases like this.
I don't know it applies; but given the many times Wikipedias problems (esp politically biased gatekeepers) have been pointed out, followed by innocent-sounding requests for examples, followed by long back and forth time and energy sapping arguments with dismissals and refutations rather than thanks and acknowledgement of the problems, my instinctive reaction is suspicion towards people implying this is their first time hearing Wikipedia is extremely flawed wrt source material and editorial power.
I feel like that is the kind of response that is an example that could be used for "sealioning" on Wikipedia.

Re:Ofcom Concedes Defeat in the 4chan Case on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @03:24PM (#50171398)
Note this nonsense headline and article is just more puffery from the theatrical 4chan side and doesn't represent any official legal position.

Of course ofcom knows its power is limited, that shouldn't stop it attempting to do it's job, however much that job might irk foreign operators publishing to ofcoms jurisdiction.

The fact is the US has different standards to the UK. It doesn't mean one is right and one is wrong but it does mean that those differences will cause cultural and legal friction that responsible operators will attempt to diminish within reason, while others will attempt to capitalize for publicity.

I love WSL, but giving this a major upgrade label (2 to 3) seems a bit of a stretch, at least from the viewpoint of an average dev user.

Perhaps it reflects the amount of work and thought that has gone into it, but I really think the optics are better if the selling points are immediately obvious to the user.

Hopefully some light will be shed in further blogs.

For those questioning (rightly) the "self-hosted" description, I suspect its a poorly-worded attempt to clarify there is no third-party requirement (eg. the repo is not cloudflare-owned) beyond your own cloudflare account.

Sometimes these "open source" services are a bit misleading as there is a coupling to the org providing them; I think the OP here just means there's nothing extra needed beyond whatever cloudflare commitment you already have.

This is great, and the modern equivalent of the ancient "Fake Progress Bar" app that you could have on screen for the reassurance of bosses walking past.
Note, AHM is "The Association for Human Mathematics"

You don't even need to click on the link to predict the Canute-style tone.

The emotional reaction is understandable, but should not guide the rational response.

We can call it Coding Canutism.
