The US won’t let China build cars in the US.

I wouldn’t worry. The US is only 17% of the global car market. In a few years, it’ll be obvious that protectionism didn’t work.

Re:Larry Ellison to sell up to $7.5B worth of Oracle stock on Saturday September 12, 2026 @07:09PM (#49678165)
I think the general theme is that you’re wrong a lot and you should use ChatGPT before making a comment
Re:Larry Ellison to sell up to $7.5B worth of Oracle stock on Saturday September 12, 2026 @01:14PM (#49674596)
What percentage of his stock is he selling? It appears your comment doesn’t fit the amount that he is selling.

ChatGPT: How much Oracle stock does Larry Ellison own?

Re:How Climate Resilient Are the Largest Cities? on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @12:11PM (#49612389)
Just ask ChatGPT

“What were the major predictions and timeline in the movie An Inconvenient Truth?”

He got some things wrong but was right on a lot.

China is building more new nuclear power than the rest of the world combined. They’ll soon produce as much renewable electricity as the United States produces electricity
Re:Ukrainian drones wipe out US tank brigade in live war game on Thursday August 13, 2026 @03:27PM (#49290786)
“The War in Ukraine is where drones (UAV) becomes an integral part of modern warfare.

Training pilots takes time and is expensive. Modern jets are also expensive.

After Ukraine, every country is going to build a UAV Air Force.”

That’s how we got to 2026 and we still haven’t reached peak coal.
That’s exactly what people said 10 years ago…and 10 years before that.

Listen to Ken Griffin explain why we need nuclear.

Who cares. Fix the big problems first. The general public is already complaining about subsidizing EVs, renewables, etc.

It’s ridiculous the amount of fossil fuels we still burn for electricity.

This “shame, shame” garbage that people did never worked.

For how long?
It’s 2.5-3% of all global emissions.

People who complain about aviation do more harm than good.

We would accomplish more by closing a few coal power plants and replacing them with renewables or nuclear. And no one would even notice.

Can you believe it’s almost 2030 and we still haven’t reached peak coal.

Died from colon cancer.

Please get checked regularly starting at 45.

“ Gene Roddenberry’s Federation was built on principles of equality and exploration for the sake of knowledge, not profit or military dominance”

You should actually watch Star Trek.

Re:The 3-degree limit could be exceeded as early as 2050 on Wednesday July 15, 2026 @02:51PM (#48925414)
We’ve had 4 decades.

If you’re still telling people flying is the problem, then you’re part of the problem

Where is all that renewable power we were promised every time we said “use nuclear”.

We still haven’t hit peak coal.

Re:Richard Scolyer Has Died on Monday June 08, 2026 @05:24AM (#48443055)
Yes, and the other reason is we don’t invest enough.
Re:Craig Venter has died on Thursday April 30, 2026 @08:44AM (#47961571)
I think he’s really just trying to spur your imagination into imagining if someone like that had lived longer.

Anyway, this conversation has been had repeatedly. Many people seem to be unable to imagine that positive benefit of much longer lives.

Suppose that’s why “Science advances one funeral at a time.”

Re:Craig Venter has died on Thursday April 30, 2026 @12:27AM (#47958105)
It appears he had cancer and something about the treatment caused his death.
Re:UAE Leaves OPEC and OPEC+ on Tuesday April 28, 2026 @11:07AM (#47935692)
Cheap and plentiful fossil fuels.

We’re rolling back CAFE standards too.

Don’t forget environmentalists have been fighting against nuclear energy for decades.

It’s quite impressive how the world is unable to reduce greenhouse emissions.

Re:Louis Zocchi, inventor of the d100, has died on Tuesday April 21, 2026 @09:13AM (#47848351)
A guess?

That’s what people always say until science progresses. I remember when we believed HIV would not be treatable.

Science advances one funeral at a time.

Re:Louis Zocchi, inventor of the d100, has died on Tuesday April 21, 2026 @05:40AM (#47846621)
91 is respectable for a reasonable man in the early 21st century. A few unreasonable people want a bit more.
No, there really isn’t.
Fortunately EVs are also cheaper. Unfortunately, the US has a 100% tariff on the less expensive Chinese EVs and batteries.

Better and cheaper does win.

If they’re better, you don’t need mandates.
