Re:Fancy Curl Sites on Thursday October 15, 2026 @01:19AM (#50099484)
I have the Extended Support Release 115.17.0esr (64-bit) GNU IceCat gnu - 1.0 on my old intel mac and the nytpu.com displays fine, HN does too with hn.js blocked by LibreJS

Good Browser.

if you want the site to be fast, don't render it with javascript and take a look at the google lighthouse check for things to improve:

not doable in short time with high certainty which means that from now on an image is only worth a thousand words

Re:The asteroid currently hitting front end web development on Tuesday September 01, 2026 @02:08PM (#49525594)
98% of current front end web development deserves to be hit by an asteroid, not sure that LLMs can deliver though.

Still on intel Monterey 2015 mbp and emacs 30 something. Switched to macports in 2024 and no complaints.
Re:Orion Browser by Kagi on Monday July 20, 2026 @11:32AM (#48980292)
fair enough - librewolf - same as Orion: 18.29 fingerprint uniqueness - I dont know the other browsers except Tor. I use librewolf too with privacy badger and librejs - good browser
Re:Orion Browser by Kagi on Sunday July 19, 2026 @11:11PM (#48973962)
Using it for years on iOS and Mac. Works great and the only zero telemetry browser. Apple Pay works and the compatibility button fixes any problem site worth loading. No complaints.
Re:FDA approves new kind of cholesterol pill on Sunday July 19, 2026 @08:42AM (#48967691)
eat healthy as in: only once a day and only six days a week. only water for drinking and only fresh stuff to eat, no meat, no eggs, nothing cooked, nothing baked, nothing fried, nothing grilled, nothing processed, no sugar and no salt.

Being a major shift from the good life one should start it with a 7 day water fast. (do I have to say "ask your doctor before embarking"? done)

Re:FDA approves new kind of cholesterol pill on Sunday July 19, 2026 @12:48AM (#48965066)
One could eat healthy instead of course but hey, the good life.
Re:Michigan spent $1.8B and only created 602 jobs on Sunday June 28, 2026 @01:12AM (#48704580)

Re:Artificial intelligence is not conscious – Ted Chiang on Wednesday June 03, 2026 @04:30PM (#48389550)
and consciousness is all there is but it takes whoami to grok that
Maybe useful for the AI to create the sites with the content the user just asked about.
Textgrabber does that without needing a screenshot. Found it here on HN, never looked back.

Re:DNS is Simple. DNS is Hard on Wednesday April 01, 2026 @11:03PM (#47609513)
I did not know dns keys expire and that I have to resign them. Now I have a daily cron job that does that.
Nothing new here. Chrome has always been a suspicious download.
