It's yours if during the generation process you correctly used the tool. e.g. You designed the architecture, you reviewed the generated code, you assisted all the development, you decided the type of tests and used your brain to guide the generation.

It's not your code if you just said "implement this" and then you shipped it. It's going to backfire - and if you still think that you own that code... well you're wrong. You're a code custodian rather than a code owner.

Author here. You described it perfectly. That's precisely the idea I wanted to describe in the article

There's a part in the article about the corporate tech pressure - you can't just stop using them, at least at work.

Moreover, I want to understand them as I did for any other tools in the past, that's why I find myself using and exploring them also outside work. It's just a tool, but with a huge impact of the crafting process (that is the fun part of coding for me).

So for you the point was going from A to B - for me the point is the process for going from A to B. We have different interests. It's not the number of projects - who cares - is the impact every project on you while you build it. At least for me.
Re:The Golden Rule for Becoming a Better Writer on Sunday August 23, 2026 @09:27AM (#49408705)
Reading this article is like a breath of fresh air. Unfortunately, I have to work with generative AI on daily basis and I have this terrible feeling of losing my ability to read and write - and think.

The claude generated text has something that I cannot clearly pin-point, that my brain detects somehow and immediately makes me feel bored. I can't keep up with the reading of a long ai generated answer ("reasoning") - it really hurts.

The same goes for writing - I always wanted to write both text and code.

The whole experience of getting into "the flow" was rewarding - endless nights (when I was younger) spent in that state, to reach something, learn something.

Now instead, the act of delegating thinking, writing, coding, and reading mainly AI generated text, makes me feel disoriented and more and more bored.

I wrote something very related to this: https://pgaleone.eu/ai/2026/07/26/use-your-brain/

Uh, no - it's precisely what happened. Being banned from US tech companies AND US payment networks implies all of those issues

Is this 2015?

Great write-up
Re:Trump temporarily drops tariffs to 10% for most countries on Wednesday April 09, 2025 @03:20PM (#43636510)
Hey, thanks for the link - I added it to my reading list. From the introduction, it seems to fit the current situation (and that's not good).
Re:Trump temporarily drops tariffs to 10% for most countries on Wednesday April 09, 2025 @03:12PM (#43636359)
From the outside, it looks like he's doing whatever he wants without control.

He starts to tell that everyone is maintained by the US - lol what?

He starts blaming Europe for being a parasite (thanks!) and treating Zelensky like everyone has seen live.

No one is telling him that his actions will have consequences for the US in their international credibility (gone) and relationships with partners (ruined)?

One day, he does a totally broken linear regression and applies no sense tariffs to every country in the world (no Russia - weird enough).

It's well known that tariffs are not a way to attract investment in your country - there's a lot of theory and historical examples that demonstrate that.

Moreover, it's just absurd to think that these kinds of actions are going to make American (!) corporations, now producing elsewhere, back in the US. No supply chain ready, lack of resources, ...

I don't know - it looks like a single man has too much power and no one around him is helping him make better decisions (for the country) in the long term. On the contrary, it looks like all the decisions are pretty much market manipulations in order to make some "friend" get some money.

But again, this is what it looks like from the outside - and it's quite worrying

He literally created the emergency himself. What the hell. I can't understand how one of the most powerful countries in the world doesn't have a system in place to prevent the president to act like a dictator
Re:Trump temporarily drops tariffs to 10% for most countries on Wednesday April 09, 2025 @02:46PM (#43635913)
This man's absurdity never ceases to amaze me. How can his supporters appreciate all this - constant - chaos?

Moreover, from the outside (European here), it looks like the US president can literally do whatever he wants without being subject to regulations or facing any consequences - pretty much like a dictatorship. No discussion, no parliament, no opposition taken into account. Crazy.

He's just right

That's great

Show HN: Hashtag AI – A PWA That Generates Hashtags from Images Using AI

https://ht.pgaleone.eu/

Hi HN! I recently built Hashtag AI, a simple Progressive Web App that generates relevant hashtags from images using AI (Gemini 1.5 Flash). This is my first PWA, and I built it surprisingly fast thanks to AI-assisted coding (Cline w/ Claude sonnet 3.5).Links: - Live app: https://ht.pgaleone.eu/ - Source code: https://github.com/galeone/htgen

Re:A love letter to bicycle maintenance and repair on Saturday May 04, 2024 @07:03AM (#40256655)
Good read, thanks. I found myself in this article having started to repair an old bicycle and bringing it back to life. I always thought that manual labor is more satisfactory than mental labor because you can immediately see the outcome and the value produced. Being a computer engineer I feel the need to disconnect myself from what I call "the abstract world" and get in touch with something real. Something I can touch.
