Hah - fair point :).
Re:GitHub Codespaces on Wednesday May 06, 2020 @01:25PM (#23093775)
I haven't specifically tried it, but I think it would be challenging given how much screen real estate the keyboard takes.
Re:GitHub Codespaces on Wednesday May 06, 2020 @01:24PM (#23093762)
The beta signup list is available today https://github.com/features/codespaces and we'll add people in the order they sign up.
Re:GitHub Codespaces on Wednesday May 06, 2020 @01:10PM (#23093570)
Codespaces uses the same underlying technology as Visual Studio Codespaces to bring a fully GitHub-native experience to our GitHub users. We've been working with multiple teams on the Visual Studio side to make this happen (I work as the product lead on Codespaces)
Re:GitHub Codespaces on Wednesday May 06, 2020 @01:05PM (#23093493)
That's correct it's usable from an iPad during the beta. There are a few known issues but we're planning on addressing those so that we can support this workflow (I work as the product lead on Codespaces).

We support all languages that can run within a Linux container, see https://github.com/mcolyer/codespace-containers/blob/master/... for a base example image (I work as the product lead on this).
Re:Hello, GitHub on Monday June 04, 2018 @06:08PM (#17233067)
I'm a GitHub employee (previously a founder of Easel S12 and Flagr W06) and work now in the Product group on the Marketplace. I'm excited to see Nat's commitment to developers and our community. This news doesn't change our resolve towards building a platform that allows our Ecosystem to thrive.

We launched Marketplace just over a year ago and continue to heavily invest in it. We want it to become the place that any entrepreneur in the software space is able able to grow their own successful business. We're just at the beginning of that journey.

Looking forward to what's to come and to seeing more developer tools thrive on our Marketplace.

When you click does the tooltip appear at all? We'd love to get it fixed up.
Re:Easel: We've Added CSS Editing on Monday February 04, 2013 @08:30PM (#5168469)
We strongly believe that the only way to know what something we really look like is to work in the medium in which it will be ultimately be presented in.

Anything less will just be an approximation of the final product.

Thanks! Noted on the ability to edit the source directly.
Re:Show HN: Use Easel to style and build Bootstrap interfaces on Thursday November 08, 2012 @11:46AM (#4758545)
I'm glad you've found it useful. We're planning on improving the color selection but until then you can actually just paste in the exact hex code if you highlight the current hex code in the color picker. Hope that helps.
Re:Show HN: Use Easel to style and build Bootstrap interfaces on Wednesday November 07, 2012 @08:06PM (#4756054)
Thanks Eli, we've actually been shipping for the past several months but it's good to get such a large new feature out the door none the less.

This is great feedback, we've definitely struggled with how to present building up a document in HTML to people who don't understand HTML. If you're purely a designer or a product manager you'll most likely to use the other aspects of Easel which allow you to position elements absolutely and style their CSS properties with the inspector on the right.

The bootstrap feature is aimed more specifically at developers and designers who are HTML and CSS savvy. We've found that there are many people out there who are interested in designing responsive application. While they can "design in the browser" with code they've found into inhibiting their creative process.

We've built this feature to allow those savvy designers to get back to what they do best, design and not code. It sounds like we're in the right direction and with the right mix of introduction, learning and clarification it will be alot easier to use.

Thanks again for taking the time to try things out and for giving us such honest feedback.

Ah. Navigation bars are intended to go outside of containers. You can make it span the entire width by setting the position in the inspector to "fixed top".
Re:Show HN: Use Easel to style and build Bootstrap interfaces on Wednesday November 07, 2012 @07:07PM (#4755886)
It depends on what you want. The bootstrap container elements are 100% of the width but if you place things inside of them the have a small amount of padding.

Do have something specific you'd like to accomplish?

Re:Show HN: Use Easel to style and build Bootstrap interfaces on Wednesday November 07, 2012 @06:28PM (#4755759)
That's great to hear! We've also fixed up that broken link, thanks for letting us know.
Re:Show HN: Use Easel to style and build Bootstrap interfaces on Wednesday November 07, 2012 @06:08PM (#4755654)
Thanks neya, we'd love to see what you come up with in Easel.

As for the tour, the feedback here has been strongly in favor of a more guided introduction so we'll see what we can cook up.

Re:Show HN: Use Easel to style and build Bootstrap interfaces on Wednesday November 07, 2012 @05:26PM (#4755483)
Thanks mrgreenfur. It's definitely something we're planning on adding in the future. We'll be sure to take a look at tutorialize.me when we get started on it.
Re:Show HN: Use Easel to style and build Bootstrap interfaces on Wednesday November 07, 2012 @04:49PM (#4755352)
Thanks for the feedback mrchess. It's true that there are many options that appear all at once. Do you think having a tour that highlighted specific next actions would address some of your concerns?
Thanks!
Exactly what we are thinking.

We realize that it's a difficult problem to create good markup but that doesn't mean we can't help. So we felt the best tradeoff was to give the CSS properties used so you can spend less time with the eyedropper tool.

There is an option to export the full page but we think it's best for quick prototypes.

Re:Easel: Design without a Designer on Monday July 02, 2012 @06:06PM (#4191294)
Interesting feedback. What I meant to communicate is that there are some simple rules that people can follow to apply a minimal level of design to what they build.

However it's really no substitute for having someone whose sole role is design. So people shouldn't skip hiring you, but use these suggestions to hold them over until they could afford you.

IANAL so I can't say for sure but the COLOURlover team doesn't seem to think that the palettes are copyrightable, as copyrights cover specific executions and not the colors themselves.

We aren't currently planning on making it open source.
