Nice to see it's not just me with this frustration. I had the same problem with my Sammy LNT4061. One capacitor and 5 years later, and it's still going strong.
If only my Kobo aura H2O had the same story. One drop on an airport floor and it's an expensive paperweight. Kobo does not repair, nor sanction repair, nor is it even really possible.
This is absolutely beautiful and makes me believe I'm living in the future.
Came here to see this. I expected to see a well reasoned argument for functional programming and how entrenched the OO mentality is. What's the mess we're in again?
Glad I'm not the only one that thinks driving should be a full time activity. If you don't have a personal chauffeur, you are not important enough to need your phone while driving. If you do have a personal chauffeur, text away Mr./Mrs./Ms. Important.
Slow lane folks, I sleep like a baby.
Who needs to write code to get the lowest price? The floors are in the JS source.
I didn't get a "don't pursue certain technologies in order to protect certain industries" vibe from the article. Most here will agree that is futile. There will always be someone willing to take it a step further for another dollar.
The takeaway in the article is to be mindful of our work, and feel (some) responsibility towards the PEOPLE whose lives it will change. The collective "meh" on HN to any person outside the tech industry is disgusting.
Was anyone else waiting for the Crimean peninsula to turn a slightly darker pink at the end there? Oh wait, that's tomorrow...
I have a suspicion that once they encounter and solve all of the challenges associated with building houses (mold, cost, weather, a second floor) they will end up approaching a pretty normal modern residential construction.
The giveforward site is now really active. I hope it is load friendly because it is being hugged very hard right now..
Dude, what a mechanic that is! Just spent 1/2 hour in no time. Expand featureset, apply to PSN, profit.
He noticed that "self" is the root of "selfie"... Deep insight here folks.
Very cool, one of those sites you can very easily spend a 1/2 hour on without realizing it...

Cool, nothing wrong with going to the bare metal for Gmaps in simple applications. If you find yourself doing any complex marker or polygon manipulation Gmaps-for-rails is really worth a look.
Keep up the good work, look forward to more from you in the future!
She's back!
Nice job, Jennifer. The one place I think the 180 previous helped you build massive skill is in UI design. Simple and snappy.
What are you using for geo-coding and mapping? I've found a combination of "geocoder" and "gmaps-for-rails" gems work great.

Haha! This article is doing a number on my impostor syndrome.
A few years ago I tried to eliminate every possible trace of my real name online. It just doesn't work, there will always be something.
So I gave up. Now I just try and make sure there is an accurate representation of my personality, views, and so on associated with my real name, online. Hopefully this gives a bit of balance to my profile in case I miscommunicate something in the future.
Have fun closing your account by the way, I went through that fiasco recently. I regularly run the LastPass security challenge and an old email of mine was in the Adobe breach too.

Does no-one answer phone calls from their Mom anymore? Just me?
We can help in some small way. Advocate for the use of password managers like LastPass and KeePass that use a different securely generated pw for each site.
Heh, no. It was as a take home coding project (in my earlier and dumber years, I would never do this now). This was after one business and two technical phone screeners. Then after they reviewed my code, I was brought in for a marathon interview lasting from 9:30AM to 6:30PM on a Friday. I left for a wedding when they started their company wide "pizza and demo night". I imagine after this was done they pulled out cots and handed out stuffed animals and blankies to the bro's. In the end, I was so massively frustrated that I forced myself to nail everything they threw at me just so I could have the satisfaction of turning down their job offer, which I did.
Thanks matchu for the additional info on RPN. I didn't know about the stack evaluation benefit, that is very cool.
As someone who used to play minecraft, this reminds me of redstone circuits brought into the real world! Cool!
Well I bit and sent a card to the current favour. I'm not normally such a softie, so that's gotta be a good sign. Way to go on the project!
I worked for a mobile/online payments company in 2011, and the industry has huge potential for disruption. The transaction volume is so high that even a slice of a slice means huge returns. Cross one border and the regulatory/compliance landscape changes dramatically too.
The winners in this space are typically those who can get the most device manufacturers, banks, visa/mc/amex, and merchants to play nice.
I actually don't want a card. Or a wallet. I'd like my keys and phone and wallet to merge into one blob. This would cause my "oh s$%t I lost X" anxiety to go from 3 points, to 1 point.
