Re:.gitignore Everything by Default on Sunday September 06, 2026 @07:29AM (#49585472)
Ah fair enough, I've got commit.verbose set to true for that.
Re:.gitignore Everything by Default on Saturday September 05, 2026 @03:55PM (#49580107)
Ban `git add .` for sure, but what’s so bad about `git commit -a`? It only adds/removes what was already under version control.
Re:.gitignore Everything by Default on Saturday September 05, 2026 @03:51PM (#49580070)
That would be `git add -u/--update`
pnpm since v10.19.0 allows excluding specific dependencies from minReleaseAge by version.
Re:Weaponizing Dependabot: Pwn Request at its finest on Friday June 06, 2025 @12:41PM (#44202631)
Could it have been a Dependabot security update? These are different from normal Dependabot updates and do not require `.github/dependabot.yml`.
Re:Hyper-Typing on Thursday May 08, 2025 @05:10AM (#43924442)
Absolutely matches your experience!

Also curious about the delightful type generation Astro uses.

`event.detail` [1] is 0 for keyboard “clicks” and 1 for pointer clicks.

I have this set as an alias:

difft = -c diff.external=difft diff

I may add a similar alias for delta

Oh! Thanks for clarifying!
Re:Popular Git config options on Saturday February 17, 2024 @02:00AM (#39407087)
! Is for external commands. You can drop the !git from that alias.

Using `~/.config/git/ignore` requires no extra setting.

Re:Show HN: Filesystem Watcher on Tuesday October 18, 2022 @04:32PM (#33253471)
Out of curiosity, what editor do you use and how do you make sure 4. happens when for example using ‘save all’?
Re:Take Advantage of Git Rebase on Thursday October 06, 2022 @12:32PM (#33110423)
GitHub does the same. There is a compare button that appears after a force (with-lease) push of a rebased branch.
And `ignoreboth` to combine the two.
Re:Tailwind CSS v3.0 on Friday December 10, 2021 @12:53AM (#29506852)
Those files (and components) still need sensible names (that would make very nice class names).
Re:Tailwind CSS v3.0 on Friday December 10, 2021 @12:51AM (#29506850)
You’re not wrong. Once it’s in there, it’s not easy to remove/replace again.

It’s off by default, so someone at Apple seems to agree :)

It’s the first thing I usually turn on. The next being “dragging (without drag lock)” which has been hiding in Accessibility for a while now.

Re:My Current HTML Boilerplate on Tuesday April 27, 2021 @12:57PM (#26958520)
As far as I know, edge is the default mode [1], no need to set it explicitly, especially not for sites that target modern browsers.

Re:Ask HN: The most useful Mac keyboard shortcuts? on Tuesday August 06, 2019 @02:03AM (#20622576)
⌘-] and ⌘-[ to navigate between items like conversations in messages or Slack. Seem to be a fairly de facto shortcuts.
