Could you expand on this? A quick Google search didn't help. Link to an article or a brief explanation would be nice!

Android has app system level options in the settings to disable WiFi/mobile data.

I tend to use that, and use Netguard as a fallback because the latter has an off by default config incase I forget to disable it for new apps.

Netguard on its own is insufficient because sometimes you'd need to use an actual VPN (which turns off Netguard)

Re:Don't let dicts spoil your code (2020) on Sunday June 26, 2022 @01:35AM (#31881398)
Forget about DataClasses, TypedDict etc. Can't you achieve the same in python with a class and a dict? Is there a difference, other than perhaps being overloaded with options?

A quick search came up empty. Could you share a source?

Is this still active? The current issue example links an issue from 2019
Slightly off topic, but how do you go about surveying the literature on a particular topic, say myopia or acne.?
Not from there nor do I know the place by any means, but didn't Bill Gates call Silicon Valley (the series) pretty close to the truth?

I'm just genuinely curious

If you're talking about importing/exporting your list of 2FA codes, I think they've added it

It's funny how much bashing Google gets for monopoly with Android, pushing users to use Chrome, Play Store and whatnot. While all of that is relevant, Apple's stranglehold seems much more and worse.

I'm looking to gift a laptop that's good for ML stuff. What features should I be looking at?

Any specific recommendations?

Why do you think a position as an NGO executive selects for that? Executives in general, yes. NGOs too?
Re:Ask HN: What are you learning? on Sunday April 05, 2020 @09:29PM (#22790186)
What resource are you using for bonds and what did you use for learning options?

I've become interested in stocks/trading recently and have been wanting to understand it well enough before losing all my money. I started Financial Markets [0]. Just finished Week 1 and it seems a little too broad/dry so far. Any recommendations are welcome.

Edit: /2 is faster when on first load. When I refresh, /1.1 is almost always faster.

You have to "install an application from an untrusted source, attackers can take advantage of that. Attackers can also take advantage of the bug if they pair it with vulnerabilities in the Chrome browser to render content."

I guess it informs us what not to do at the very least. Given the track record, I'm not very optimistic of the vendors pushing a patch very soon (if ever). This keeps us informed at least.

Are you saying that if I turn on my phone's radio and set it between 91.1 and 93.3, I'd be able to hear what other people are listening to? Could you elaborate?

Ask HN: Why is tracking/advertising so bad?

I'm from a developing country, where even people working as devs/engineer prefer apps with ads over paid apps. I think the privacy argument is looked at from a wrong angle. Not everyone can afford to pay for a subscription or even a one-time fee. Especially, if you're from developing parts of the world. If there are a couple of ads which subsidizes something that is otherwise unattainable for...
