How does a post like this get onto the 1st page of HN?

The hell is this?
Are those 20 free and open source as well? Name them then.
Re:Starcraft: Ashfall on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @10:07AM (#50166690)
Cool, but it gets stuck for me on 'fusion' of 2-3 heavy units: can't select them (neither does dragging work).
Who cares?
File transfers do not work. Even after allowing microphone access on both ends.
First 2 links give "You’ve read your last free article."

The last link says domain not resolved.

Do better.

Re:typ.ing on Sunday August 23, 2026 @11:14AM (#49409484)
Sir, there are rules. You have to follow them. You don't insert arbitrary number of spaces after any punctuation marks. Your 'mental breath'/health issues should not affect others. Historical workarounds for quite technical problems from past eras don't mean what you think they mean. They were workarounds, not a valid reason to use double spacing in digital texts.

Sir, this is a mistake. You've been trained by mistake to produce mistakes. We know it's awful.
Right after ukraine gets demilitarized!
AFWall+, of course.
That's good. Time to stop this war.
I don't understand the comments to this post. Don't people use firewalls anymore to limit internet access only to the apps really needing it?
What, again?
Re:In-Browser Container Builds on Wednesday May 27, 2026 @06:56PM (#48301890)
I don't know any scenario where I'd need any of that, but I love such things regardless.

About git.kontain.me - what if I'd like to setup my own copy of such a service and would like it to work with a non-public git repo, how to pass credentials? Since you support only cloning over https (btw, why not over ssh as well?) - one could use an URL of format user:pass@host:port/path/to/repo, would that work?

For IT jobs - why can't you?

...or is it?
Cloudflare is cancer. And the tumor is now too big.
Re:Quien – A better WHOIS lookup tool on Saturday April 11, 2026 @07:15AM (#47729572)
I do. I care. And there are dozens of us.

Lots of infected programs provide value. It has nothing to do with being or not being infected.

If a project was vibecoded in a weekend - there are less chances that it will still be maintained in a, say, year or two.

Re:LittleSnitch for Linux on Wednesday April 08, 2026 @09:39PM (#47698363)
Nice to have this as an extra option, but being a linux user I value openness of code. I am pretty content with opensnitch + opensnitch-ui.

Works fine for me. Configure your shell.
Re:Show HN: I ported Tree-sitter to Go on Wednesday February 25, 2026 @03:36PM (#47157493)
But how do we know the readme isn't also vibecoded?
Re:Nearby Glasses on Tuesday February 24, 2026 @03:49PM (#47142783)
That's not a dichotomy.
Re:Why the KeePass format should be based on SQLite on Tuesday February 24, 2026 @01:00PM (#47140321)
That's probably a security feature.
