Re:On the phenomenon of bullshit jobs on Wednesday November 05, 2014 @08:04AM (#8561569)
I agree with you. But only if you are a motivated person. It saddened me when I had to give up on them by founding out that they (most people, even the close ones) are not motivated due to fear, laziness, and disbelief in own powers and possibilities of improvement.
> And I remember the quote from the "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" author: "I'm a bestselling author, not best writing author".

"The Rich Dad, Poor Dad" targeted a huge generic market vs nich tech market for "Javascript" (very tough market). Your book will also be competing with Video tutors like:

http://www.lynda.com/search?q=javascript

For only $25/mo, you can have access to all the courses in their library.

Re:The NSA Reportedly Has Total Access To The Apple iPhone on Tuesday December 31, 2013 @09:20AM (#6990523)
Yes, hence the feature phone :), no GPS, no email, no browsing records, etc.
If the founder is a developer, yes, I totally agree. But for business person, no, I don't. Just like OOP programming, I think a team needs to be comprised of unique committed talented professionals that can do their own job very good: marketing, sales, social networking, programming, designing, business managing, legal, etc. (skills might overlap).

Even if you are Jack of all trades, you won't have the time to execute all the tasks well on your own. If the developer looks down on you because you don't know how to code, then that is not your ideal candidate or your business or talent is not convincing enough.

Humm... I was going to buy the new iPhone, this changed my mind. Maybe I should just get a feature phone instead.
Watch netflix videos w/ subtitles on. Mimic lead character's speech. Record your speech and compare it, repeat. It always worked for me.
I would change the domain to stranger.io or strangers.io instead... it's available :)

Great job with the site.

Re:Ask HN: Which is the better language to use Perl, Python or PHP? on Wednesday December 04, 2013 @07:48PM (#6851812)
About Perl http://programmers.stackexchange.com/questions/115851/is-per...

PHP vs Python article from 2 years ago http://onstartups.com/tabid/3339/bid/20493/Why-PHP-Is-Fun-an...

If you are going to use PHP, Laravel 4 framework is probably the best choice https://tutsplus.com/tutorial/why-laravel-is-taking-the-php-...

Symfony 2 and Silex (for small projects) are great frameworks too

But if you already know and love Python, stick to that. It's a great language.

Re:Why I use Vim on Tuesday November 19, 2013 @07:30PM (#6765607)
