Thanks for this rooting guide
Re:Most people can't juggle one ball on Monday April 13, 2026 @11:27AM (#47753405)
I had both of these, and learned to juggle from Klutz

I recently bought a new copy for my son, but it hasn’t clicked for him yet

Re:You Are Not Your Job on Sunday March 22, 2026 @01:23PM (#47479815)
Well said, thanks

I’d much rather know and learn about someone’s passion for woodworking, hill walking, flower arranging, whatever they enjoy doing in their free time, rather than having to talk about their (or my!) work.

Re:Ask HN: What kind of setup do you run for your children? on Wednesday January 07, 2026 @02:21PM (#46531177)
The screentime controls as part of an Apple family are great - downtime - time limits per app - approval needed to install apps - communications controls

Highly recommended

Re:Ask HN: How do you avoid AI slop on YouTube? on Friday July 25, 2025 @05:09AM (#44681172)
The best change I made on YouTube was to turn ‘Watch History’ and ‘Search History’ off

With no history the algorithm can’t populate the Home tab or the Shorts tab and they are blank

I just rely on the Subscriptions tab and searching

Re:Mozilla to shut down Pocket on July 8 on Thursday May 22, 2025 @01:55PM (#44064737)
I was a very heavy pocket user and loved it, but around 2019 they changed their Discover tab, so you could no longer see the source of the article.

The pages were listed as ‘Pocket’ source, and they windowed the original article in a pocket page with ads

Re:Ask HN: What is the most secure way of baby monitoring? on Saturday March 29, 2025 @03:36PM (#43517997)
Have a look a cameras with HomeKit Secure Video, if you are already in the Apple ecosystem

e2e encrypted and stored in your iCloud

Reminded me of DateByDays, similar but the base unit is days instead of weeks

https://datebydays.com/

brought the total to six so far in 2024, after 10 in 2023

With 25 days to go in the year, this is likely (hopefully) lower than 2023?

Re:Ask HN: What sub $200 product improved your 2023 on Saturday December 09, 2023 @02:53PM (#38585290)
The Wera Toolcheck Plus has been a great addition to my toolbox

Generally now grab it first, when a job comes up!

You must play through mistakes like they're not there, keep the rhythm with your foot and the melody line in your head. Also don't play the hardest stuff you just learned in recitals, play stuff you can do with your eyes closed while holding a conversation.

Brilliant life advice in general, keep your head in the game, carry on and maintain the flow.

Thanks for sharing, hoping I can follow suit and raise an independent free-range daughter who likes me!
Switching to greyscale on iOS really helps reduce the attractiveness of wasting time

Settings->Accessibility->Display&Text->Color Filters

And you can activate with triple-click of side button also

Settings->Accessibility->Accessibility Shortcut->Color Filters

Re:How can I get my boyfriend to stop digging his tunnel? on Wednesday April 20, 2022 @10:45AM (#31097714)
Reminded me of a great Darknet Diaries episode that involved a lot of tunneling!

EP 39: 3 ALARM LAMP SCOOTER https://darknetdiaries.com/episode/39/

I use Qbserve [1] after seeing it mentioned in a previous thread.

Really helpful for seeing where time was spent over the course of the day/week. Collected data all stored locally too

Re:Is YC a Monopoly? on Sunday February 13, 2022 @06:19PM (#30326603)
The MFN clause can’t be considered more competitive against other seed and angel investors.

It is clearly making their next fundraise MORE complex for founders.
