I was asking myself today; how to ensure that you don't miss a cve? I mean you'll sooner or later stumble across it if you're monitoring your communities but I thought that maybe there exists some kind of central solution, like a service were you could subscribe for your tech stack and get notified?
Can you elaborate why one shouldn't use DNS validation for hosts you control in general?
Tststs.. it's only allowed to harm adults and the environment for profit.
Depends on where you work in the industry, there's a huge level of division of work. Upstream departments should work more on new products and marketing etc. But a little more downstream, there isn't much todo if not enough cars are ordered.
The intention of Kurzarbeitergeld is to prevent large layoffs. I honestly can't tell if that makes sense in the long run, but it seems reasonable for a political party trying to make it to the next term.

I just noticed, that Invoker Commands are available across all major browsers. Good to see that HTML progresses to make Javascript redundant for basic UX.

I assume days alone in tiny rooms are something different than days alone in a cozy cabin oder days alone in nature in general. Seems odd to me that the effects have been contributed to the missing social interactions alone and neglect the jail like setting.
Is it okay to flag low quality ai content like this?
I guess it's correlated to the commercialization of those platforms. The amount of content which is actually from your friends and families is declining and was replaced by adds and viral content. If facebook would've been from the beginning what it's now, we probably never would have named it 'social media' in the first place.
Open to applications I would say, but not completely remote. So unless you're Python or c/c++ Dev living in nrw, Germany..
In my real life bubble, AI isn't a big deal either, at least for programmers. They tend to be very sceptical about it for many reasons, perceived productivity being only one of them. So, I guess it's much less of a thing than you would expect from media coverage and certain internet communities.
Is there something like a tilling extension for xfce? Not snappy corners but actually tilling by default?
I'm currently on popos (using GNOME) and enjoy the tilling of its GNOME extension. Actual tilling wms were too hackish for me whenever I tried them.
Correlated but kinda off topic: I don't mind the style so much, I mind the verbosity. The amount of words spit out effortless by the writer which then need to be comprehended and filtered by every reader.
Seeing a project basically wrapping 100 lines of code with a novel length README ala 'emoticon how does it compare to.. emoticon'-bla bla really puts me off.
A changelog.md file for users which is used to automatically create release messages.
If features need more explanation, we create a wiki page and link it in the release.
Sometimes we feel like there should be a changelog for devs but in the end git blame is used anyways.
Regulating dark patterns and recommendation algorithms would benefit everyone. Banning social media until age 16 and then suddenly allowing teenagers into the toxic social media world feels half-baked and somewhat misses the point to me.
CSS grids are for presentation, HTML is for semantics. Ideally they are separated. That's why the use of <center> tag is deprecated.
> Do you think this goal during training cannot be changed to impersonate someone normal such that you cannot detect you are chatting with an LLM?
I don't think so, because LLMs hallucinate by design, which will always produce oddities.
> Before flight was understood some thought "magic" was involved. Do you think minds operate using "magic"? Are minds not machines? Their operation can not be duplicated?
Might involve something we don't grasp, but despite that: only because something moves through air it's not flying and will never be, just like a thrown stone.
I have a all my messengers running on my desktop as well, so I don't really have those problems. How's KDE Connect superior?
I'm seriously interested, since I read it's a killer feature but I cannot really imagine how it would help me.
Well, no one really knows — maybe we're just putting a lot of effort into turning a lump of clay into pizza. It already looks confusingly similar; now it just needs to smell and taste like it.
I skimmed through one of the videos and it reminded me of how I just had a week of mainly reviewing other's code and supporting their work.
When I finally had the occasion to code myself, I felt so much better and less stressed at the end of the day.
My point is: what I just saw is hopefully not my future.
I sometimes read the opinion, that those who like the programming part of software engineering, don't like „agentic engineering“ and vica versa. But can we really assume that Armin Ronacher doesn't like programming?

I'm really happy with locus maps 3 classic in combination with brouter as a local routing engine with my own routing profile using my preferences.
In combination with downloadable map tiles, I can plan and ride my route completely offline which saves battery and keeps things running in the more rural areas.
The route planner is really nice. I actually plan all my routes in the smartphone and export to gpx if necessary because it's the most comfortable way to do it.
What I also really appreciate is, that it's not a subscription based payment model. So you pay once for downloadable tiles etc. and for the app and can just use it without worrying about updated terms etc.
BUT, and that's a major BUT, the version is deprecated and will be ended soon in favour of the subscription based locus map 4. I don't miss anything in locus map 3 and don't see any benefits. I'll just hope the app will work as long as possible without official support.
I agree that people are using it for things they would've googled, but I doubt that it's a good replacement.
To me it mostly comes with a feeling of uncertainty. As if someone tells you something he got told on a party. I need to Google it, to find a trustful source for verification, else it's just a hint.
So I use it if I want a quick hint. Not if I really want to have information worth remembering. So it's certainly not a replacement for me. It actually makes things worse for me because of all that AI slop atm.
After CS went downhill, I created accounts at most of the alternatives around. I just leave it there, offering our living room.
I'm not living in a very touristic area, but every other month, I get a request for a night and if it fit's in my schedule, I'll accept. It's been only nice experiences so far and no one gave me the vibe of seeing it as a cheap alternative to hotels only. Most people ask on bewelcome.org by the way.
I just like that even though I stay in my bubble most of the time, I get the opportunity to spend some quality time with a stranger. Especially because those strangers are often on some kind of a mission, else they typically wouldn't come to my area.
+1 from me. I already spend more time learning phoenix in my free time than I'd like to admit and I'm stil waiting for the moment it makes 'click'.
It's just so hard sometimes to wrap your head around the abstractions, even though they are shallow + things are changing fast. I feel like my django-ish mental modal of web applications is also getting in the way a lot.
It would probably help, if I could spend more time with less interruptions on it. But I have to say that I expected to get into it a lot quicker since it's praised so much for it's dev experience.
'Many hallucinations' may become the new 'poorly documented' when it comes to tech stack decisions. I'm asking myself if it could slow down adoption of new tech in future, since it's harder to provide the equivalent learning material of 10 years of Stack Overflow than writing equally good documentation.
