I think you're a non-resident dude, sady they didn't expand the whole UPI protocol to include non-Indian numbers which is a shame, we could've showed off to people.
"When the looting starts, shooting starts"

Read that above statement, how is it not fanning the flames? That a way a president get to talk to an oppressed black population?

Nice work. I'm a indian dev. Let me know if there's any work for me to do.

Printing press. Without it, spread of knowledge would've been dwarfed and it put the industrial revolution in its full swing.
I was a RoR developer for two years and immensely enjoyed coding in Ruby, well technically, RoR(Ruby on Rails). It was in a startup and features were being developed at a rapid pace and it really felt like the right choice. But I also noticed that as companies grow they have problems with the maintenance of the code as well as the performance like twitter moving away.

Yep. I'm 4 years exp software engineer in the Bangalore/Indian startup ecosystem. I don't doubt that the services sector is declining but there's a decent talent pool. At the same time, a good number of American Product companies/High-Valued startups have opened up their Indian counterparts to produce software that's super costly to build in the US.

But, I do hope that we shift our focus inward rather than towards US or somewhere. There must be enough demand as it is in India.

Thanks, both of them look really relevant. Will read. :)

Yes, the pieces are just perfect. Any good lecture series on major sites like Coursera have it that way. 1.5 hour lecture give me a good sleep.
Re:MIT 9.11: The Human Brain (Spring 2018) on Monday June 04, 2018 @05:13AM (#17225915)
I work with neural networks for complex scene processing and object detection on the roads. Best of part of my job is watching a network "learn/train itself" to classify various object categories.

Are there any good theories on what happens during the training process of the brain (for example, while learning a new skill or something very basic/simple) and how individual neurons get affected by this "learning" process? So, I understand from a psychological perspective, we see the brain as this beautiful system but I am asking from physiological perspective. What kind of changes can we observe in neurons when we learn something new?

P.S: Thanks a lot for your replies. Means a lot. :)

PLEASE DON'T STOP POSTING THEM! PRETTY PLEASE? At least, future generations may appreciate it, right?! :P

Hey,I'm at lecture 2.6,you're talking about the recognition of faces and it's relationship with the holistic image view/image processing.

So, can I go ahead and abstract out the ability of mind being discussed? Basically, given a category, this vision processing module in brain is processing different features of the image(here feature in the machine learning sense). And these categories can be hierarchical. Like faces, humans, creatures, this can be a hierarchy that the brain may be referring to when it is trying to identify a face and switches to the mode where it needs a holistic image view rather than some isolated parts of brain. I understand that imagining how this happens biologically(physiologically) is hard for me.

My question is, am I correct in the above inference? I want to suggest an experiment now :D :P

Hey Nancy, thanks for doing the lectures. Coolest Online course I ever came across/studied. Love from India.
Those snobs are gonna get snobbier now.
Learn how engineering works. Not just software engineering but in general how things get put together. Like rockets, cars, softwares, hardware systems, mobile phones, computers and how you keep improving things over time by iterating or entirely rethinking the design.

Read up about the evolution of various technologies like Databases, Servers, architectures, computing power in devices. How they improved over time and what components led to the improvement. For example, the amount of RAM has increased over time in mobile phones and that lead to the advent of multi-tasking in phones. Similar things have happened in multiple places in technology and increased the efficiency, power and throughput by many folds.

This is kinda sad
You turn to automation when you get screwed by automation. Seriously?
Laughter from India. We don't have this DST stuff but I have to deal with this at work as the clients are American. Damn, this is some serious mess.
Currently the cost of this EV is about 37K dollars. That's very high even for US, right? We want more affordable ones and ones that look like glorified golf carts. Bolt looks like a good car but how much market it can get in India/Brazil is still questionable.

People in India are interested in taking up EVs if the cost is reduced thanks to the unbreathable air in the major cities.

Re:HN is my new Facebook on Thursday June 29, 2017 @10:31AM (#14663579)
I think wherever there's sizable amount of devs, engineers & creators are in a group. Things get pretty meta and discussions run deep in subject and quality. Good to be on HN. May people post really good tech and exciting world happenings and create a multicultural world-view among the users.

Re:Australia has the most expensive energy bills on Tuesday June 20, 2017 @08:24AM (#14593994)
Just a thought. If Adani power isn't building a Coal Mine and building a coal plant and importing coal, I got a theory to present. So, Adani is a Gujarathi Businessman from India, and he owns a lot of power plants in India & abroad. Also, recently, to my f*in' surprise, India has been pretty aggressive on shutting down coal plants and even cancelled a few plants which are supposed to open in the later years. Now, let me remind you that we in India have a bunch of coal mines and what do we do with all that coal now that coal plants are getting shut down? Ship to Australia. Again, this is just a theory. Think about it.
Re:Australia has the most expensive energy bills on Monday June 19, 2017 @05:07AM (#14585521)
And instead of turning to solar power, they are letting Adani power build a coal plant? What is wrong with the government of Australia. And solar power's prices are on decline and are now getting lower than coal and it's clean energy, check any major business news sites like Bloomberg, NYTimes etc., If I am not wrong, Australia is a sunny place, so going solar was an obvious option and Elon Musk was even talking for giving them solar panels & batteries. WHatever happened to that?!!
You from India? Looks like your startup is one of the fallouts that are happening in Indian startup ecosystem.
