Honestly, when I get home I try to avoid the computer as much as possible. It's why I enjoy playing video games on consoles instead of a PC because I don't have to continue doing what I've already done for 8 hours that day (sit close to a monitor, use mouse/keyboard, etc).

Re:Why Ever Stop Playing Video Games on Friday February 24, 2017 @04:04PM (#13727886)
If you like CS, then you should check out Rainbow Six Siege. Very similar play style (one life rounds with an objective). Everyone chooses a unique operator (each operator has their own weapon set/special ability). It's a lot of fun and reminds me of the days I used to play CS in college 10 years ago.

Is there an archive of the stream?
Re:I've removed all ad network code from my blog on Thursday January 05, 2017 @10:59AM (#13328145)
I don't know what I'm looking for in the demo. I turned off adblock and have hovered over the images but I'm not seeing anything. Maybe I have another plugin interfering. I'm using Chrome.

The pleenq website demos the idea well though.

Re:Chrome browser for businesses on Thursday December 29, 2016 @11:27AM (#13278181)
My company has already disabled the auto-updates in our installed versions of Chrome :/
Interesting. Although I actually find it useful that they include the flashlight. Win/win.
How are they going to verify your current salary? Do companies really go out of their way to do that?
My first thought with WWF was wrestling...
And if you really want notifications, they can still be enabled via the Google Chrome app when you visit the Facebook website.
Re:On Quitting on Thursday October 01, 2015 @11:58AM (#10312084)
I'm not a trust fund kid, but I could safely quit my job any minute and be okay for at least a year.

I'm 28. I have a net worth over $130k and a $25k emergency fund. I make over $70k (web dev) in a low cost of living area. I am maxing out my 401k and Roth IRA every year and will be opening a taxable account this year to dump more money into. I'm a renter (2BR for $515/month not including utilities), but I am fully supporting my fiancée who is finishing her masters of accounting degree.

I still spend quite a bit of extra money on video games and board games and a few other luxuries that I could and probably should cut back on. But I don't eat out (we cook in every night) and I live a mile away from my work.

My ultimate goal is financial independence. I want to be able to live off the 4% returns of my investments and not have to work (although I probably would do something, but more for myself than a company).

Re:Show HN: My reply to LinkedIn recruiters on Friday May 22, 2015 @12:07PM (#9589159)
I've had this happen multiple times. I find it very disrespectful to call me unsolicited at my job about another job.

I really thought that Spartan would have been a great name for the browser.
Re:German author Guenter Grass dies on Monday April 13, 2015 @09:00AM (#9367324)
I really enjoyed his book My Century, where each chapter covers one year of Germany, 1900-1999.

Re:Ask HN: Which book are you reading these days? on Thursday April 09, 2015 @04:46PM (#9350913)
Peeling the Onion, Gunter Grass or any other books by him (My Century is an interesting read on 100 years of Germany).
Re:GitBook: A modern publishing toolchain on Monday March 16, 2015 @08:59AM (#9211123)
Couldn't you technically take the output of GitBook and publish to each service (Amazon, Google Books, iTunes, etc) yourself? It seems you are only paying for the convenience of them doing it for you.
Original title was: "A former Google employee claims she was reprimanded for speaking out about sexual harassment" but had to reword it meet 80 character title limit.
Re:Ask HN: Has anyone here used Axosoft for project management? on Tuesday February 03, 2015 @12:04PM (#8991509)
Thanks for the comment! We're also a Microsoft shop and I did like the VS integration with what I've seen so far. We've been using Track-it for our help desk and as a pseudo-project management system for years and it's terrible. Thanks again.
$495? Wasn't it just about $350 not too long ago?
Easier to transfer money? Can use a CC/debit card, etc.? Don't even have to leave home to donate or maybe the cause is further away (your hometown but you live far away now).
Where did you find these recruiting contracts? Are they easy to obtain?

Pretty sure they mean literally eating the (cat's) shit.
Well, that explains why they were looking for a Cryptocurrency Engineer.

Re:Eleventh Grade Tech Trends on Thursday September 18, 2014 @11:59AM (#8335909)
That reminds me of my high school days where people played games on TI-83 calculators. I built a level for the Super Mario game and it spread like wildfire throughout the school.
Re:I was asked to crack a program in a job interview on Wednesday September 17, 2014 @05:52PM (#8332585)
Funny story, I'm a native English speaker but I've been studying French for the past few years. I now constantly and subconsciously add spaces before punctuation like French grammar.
Re:Show HN: The Rap Test on Thursday June 12, 2014 @12:34PM (#7884374)
Oh. There's more than two rappers to choose from. Didn't notice that the first time I went to the page.
