Re:John Jumper leaves Google to join Anthropic on Saturday June 20, 2026 @06:44AM (#48608194)
this is a natural human trait. soap operas, sports, businesses, music.

there are also real implications. assuming money is not the only factor in moving to anthropic, it does help guide insight into where innovation might be and where to put your AI spend. a decision which could result in real returns for individuals and companies.

Re:Local AI needs to be the norm on Sunday May 10, 2026 @05:04PM (#48088007)
I think using the best model for every tasks makes sense when these models are subsidised. when the prices go up (assuming they do) this could trigger a more varied approach. assuming the model doesn't self select for you.
Re:Qwen3.6-Plus: Towards Real World Agents on Thursday April 02, 2026 @02:47PM (#47618562)
they're going to start training a pelican riding a bike specifically on these models soon. it's the key global benchmark!
Re:Where Do the Children Play? on Monday November 17, 2025 @05:55AM (#45952498)
This summarises my thoughts as well. People used to give away children that were too much of a burden. With higher mortality, some were also not expected to make it.

We're in a societal place where we have set the bar high in terms of an expected level of education and quality of life for our kids. kids are expensive and we've grown the population massively. There is also a social stigma associated with having lots of kids in Western countries.

I worry about my kids. But im always fascinated when they stretch the boundaries and show me how resilient they are. So I let them push limits but explain the pros and cons hoping they build their own feedback loops with some sense of perspective.

It's a delicate balance as a parent. I'm consistently fascinated how others parent. It's amazing how changes in parental style can be generational and show how long the changes will take to change.

Zelda Breath of the Wild attempts to approach this with an interesting interface.
It seems more and more like an inevitability we will run models locally. Exciting and concerning implications.

If anyone has any suggestions of people thinking about this space they respect, I'd love to listen to more ideas and thoughts on the developments.

Re:This is a teenager on Tuesday April 16, 2024 @04:00PM (#40056481)
it was my experience of college. many I know would agree, and few would agree with you. I'm sure there are some that didn't feel this way, but strange sweeping statement to make.
I agree with this. If she's adding value and her input is worth her place on the cap table then it should be easy to resolve.

You do need to think carefully about what a breakup would look like. Relationships can go sour and if that happened what would the arrangement be if they couldn't work together.

Also, who makes the decisions? Does her allocation give them both a majority of voting rights?

It's not a typical arrangement, that doesn't mean it can't work but your co-founder has added complexity into the process.

Re:Sam Altman, Greg Brockman and others to join Microsoft on Monday November 20, 2023 @03:26AM (#38344631)
multiple ways to make that work. LTIPs, share options, direct equity in subsidiary etc
Using the same logic, you could say coal is renewable depending on your time horizon, no?
Turing is a Godfather of AI. But you can't say there never will be another. In light of recent achievements there should be new pioneers and Godfathers. Its the nature of innovation.
Re:Ray-Ban Meta next generation of smart glasses on Wednesday September 27, 2023 @02:41PM (#37679248)
I don't wear glasses. I don't live in a sunny country. Unless I'm wearing flat and clear lenses I would infrequently wear these casually.

I like the concept. Just not sure about market fit outside a people who wear glasses, sunny locations and hardcore fans. Although that's a lot of people!

Is this not a matter of training? once you know career moves on resumes and how experience can provide the next jump in role it'll then isolate those roles for you. same for cross industry successful moves. I'm sure this is how LinkedIn does this although it's never perfect.

recent advances would allow a platform to conversationally review your CV and probe you're desires to help with recommendations. super interesting space.

Re:Beating Super Mario Bros 3 in 19 frames on Saturday October 29, 2022 @01:46AM (#33381335)
that is a great explanation and just what I was looking for thank you. I don't often see complexity broken down so eloquently.
Re:The most livable cities on Saturday June 25, 2022 @04:37AM (#31873536)
It would take away the legitimacy of the results if they introduced bias. Asia is more diverse (Sydney, Gujarat, Luang Prabang, Jakarta) and maybe the USA just isn't.
Re:Free stuff makes us irrational on Sunday May 15, 2022 @04:14AM (#31386092)
I worked for a multinational finance company. in the summer, they would give out free ice lollies. Despite being about 0.70p each, the rush and frenzy was too much. They stopped the I've lollies to the disappointment of the rational employees.

Re:A beginner's guide to intermittent fasting (2012) on Thursday March 10, 2022 @08:25AM (#30626613)
I also find my fasting with exercise leads to me being more susceptible to illness as well as injury.

I don't typically feel hunger or thirst much so I have to make sure I eat consistently.

That was a good watch. thanks for sharing.

Great example of first iteration tech being the tip of the iceberg.

Didn't know. thanks for sharing.
I've played against the Iroquois nationals in three world championships. while very bruising they are fabulously creative on the field, really a joy to play and watch and lacrosse runs through their blood.

Lacrosse is not the same without them since they formed their first national team. I would suggest watching Spirit Game: pride of a nation (https://m.imdb.com/title/tt5195438/) that captures some of their history.

The film also follows the 2015 world indoor lacrosse championships. this was the first international tournament played on Iroquois land. Al Gore and Jim Brown (the latter having played lacrosse at college) both attended to watch the finals and dine with all the players.

The lacrosse community are behind their inclusion.

I just finished reading Andy Goves book "high output management" it was really quite good.

It's also Zucks favourite business book as well apparently.
