Re:Uber Partners and Drivers on Monday March 04, 2013 @03:03AM (#5317200)
I don't see reason why same (or better) security measures that are present in normal cabs can't be implemented in uber. Maybe there are already?

Re:Cars and Robust Cities Are Fundamentally Incompatible on Wednesday February 13, 2013 @05:31AM (#5212365)
This model of car centric city would be more and more common as man enters uninhabitable outdoor environments. so there would be benefit of starting to adapt to it right now with improving car indoor expirience like drive-ins and not making it harder with car prohibitions and taxing. With personal cars you will have more degrees of freedom than with trains, busses etc.

Re:Manufacturing a Renaissance with 3D Printing on Monday December 17, 2012 @06:23AM (#4931855)
call me when 3d printers would be able to print itself from materials found in nature.
this happens when you die, universe segfaults, or it continues running in hell, limbus or heaven. depends on where it lands. hell has 9 rings. goal is to end up in ring 0 . heaven
Why is this a bad thing? and not a good thing

Re:Obama Order Sped Up Wave of Cyberattacks Against Iran on Friday June 01, 2012 @12:29PM (#4054295)
Yeah I read that, but nobody seems to mention what coding and project management practices were used in development of this software.

If this software is really done by military then it's development process was following some strict military standards and regulation. and should be similar to existing other software.

Regulations like : How is software partitioned to modules? What interfaces it is using? Are this novel or existing techniques? and things like that.

Re:Obama Order Sped Up Wave of Cyberattacks Against Iran on Friday June 01, 2012 @06:15AM (#4052722)
Are there any clues , how many people worked on stuxnet and flame.coding style methodology, how this project was managed etc. ? (Im still not convinced that this is from goverment)
Re:Birds may be paedomorphic dinosaurs on Tuesday May 29, 2012 @02:32AM (#4036213)
That what first crossed my mind (because of theory of Polymorphism that I'm developing) , but maybe not because genetic mutation over time may have damaged the necessary DNA. Possibliy you can switch some gene and get deformed lifesize dinosaur.
Re:On developing deep programming knowledge on Sunday May 27, 2012 @05:54PM (#4031128)
This kind of knowledge most likely comes from reverse engineering the binaries.
Re:Germany sets new solar-power record on Saturday May 26, 2012 @03:43PM (#4028149)
How many energy was consumed building this thing? and in what time will this power plant produce same amount of energy?
Re:"The descent of Edward Wilson" (by Richard Dawkins) on Friday May 25, 2012 @01:08PM (#4024431)
no i don't have explicit quote. but this is what it boils down to. What else could it mean?
Re:"The descent of Edward Wilson" (by Richard Dawkins) on Friday May 25, 2012 @12:35PM (#4024238)
1. yes 2. this article quote: "That’s differential group survival. But you’d never say of any part of a squirrel that it evolved to promote the welfare of the grey squirrel over the red. Wilson wouldn’t say anything so silly about squirrel"
Re:"The descent of Edward Wilson" (by Richard Dawkins) on Friday May 25, 2012 @11:49AM (#4023981)
I think Dawkins believes that genes are being manipulated not cells. But Dawkins disagrees that this genes (that cascadly manipulate reality) contain information about reality beyond cells, like for example different groups dynamics. While this other guy thinks the opposite. (Thats what i get from his squirels example.

Dawkins has hypothesis that evolution is "blind" process, so if this is true than it would probably collapse.

My view is that of Copenhagen interpretation. where this randomness is also not the part of objective reality.

Many-worlds interpretation is even more extreme and less proven than view that reality is by nature random

"In quantum mechanics, the Heisenberg uncertainty principle states a fundamental limit on the accuracy with which certain pairs of physical properties of a particle, such as position and momentum, can be simultaneously known. In layman's terms, the more precisely one property is measured, the less precisely the other can be controlled, determined, or known."

It doesn't tells us that physical process is fundamentaly random (as in that randomness is objective reality)

Part of this article is bullshit, there is nothing "fundamentally random" about physical processes. It is just that you can't measure it without disturbing it. so you must use probability to help you.
Next step : connect slime-mold to virtual reality , and expose API for it.
