News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

The energy consumed is cv^2f. It makes no sense to keep increasing frequency as you make power way worse.
I don't think Tesla stock has traded on fundamentals for a while.

The numbers get better as they get more data.
Re:A.I. Researchers Are Negotiating $250M Pay Packages on Saturday August 02, 2025 @10:22AM (#44767862)
Top athletes they have stats to measure. I guess for these researchers I guess there are papers? How do you know who did what with multiple authors? How do you figure out who is Jordan vs Steve Kerr?
Re:Claude Code Pro Limit? Hack It While You Sleep on Sunday July 06, 2025 @02:23PM (#44482908)
This over reliance on llms is crazy. People are going to forget how to code. Sometimes the llm makes up shit or uses the wrong version of the API. Sometimes it's easier to look up the documentation and write some code.
Programmable calcs were banned when I went to school since everyone was cheating with them. People even had programs to simulate the clearing of memory.
Pissing off your primary customer base probably isn't smart. I don't see MAGA buying electric cars. In foreign markets BYD is a better value.

He did become the world's richest man and he bought himself and election so I wouldn't under estimate him.

Also it makes getting visa way easier.
What brokers allow you to short crypto?

He wanted to be CEO and they said no. He went a different American company that said they would let him be CEO, but he realized he didn't want to be the CEO there.

Re:Ask HN: Learning programming when AI can do better? on Tuesday December 24, 2024 @11:59AM (#42503105)
At least right now it can't. It makes a lot of mistakes. It is useful to write the code and then you just need to fix the stuff it didn't do right.
The ai judge scored it 118-112. Usyk won the fight, but maybe by 2-3 rounds and not 6. Boxing is way too subjective.
Illegal streams are working but netflix is not. That is crazy.

EE is much harder than CS as a degree. Also there is less jobs and pay sucks. You will see a lot of EEs doing software jobs.
Re:Text2CAD Generating Sequential CAD Designs from Text Prompts on Sunday September 29, 2024 @10:32AM (#41687687)
can you import this into solid works or autocad? I think it would be super useful to have the basic model and then tweak it.
Re:Caroline Ellison sentenced to 2 years in prison on Tuesday September 24, 2024 @09:25PM (#41642721)
After she comes out she can write a book maybe sell movie right etc and she will be ok. Look at Anna Delvey or Jordan Belfort. Maybe she hid some crypto.
Re:Bypassing airport security via SQL injection on Thursday August 29, 2024 @02:14PM (#41393718)
The dudes who did this are going to probably be visited by homeland security or FBI. Not sure what they thought they will get out of this. I don't think the government cares about security, but they are vengeful.
It doesn't matter it was 100% crowdstrikes fault. Surprised its still worth 60billion dollars.
Re:Susan Wojcicki has died on Saturday August 10, 2024 @10:00AM (#41209578)
But it is more likely when you are old. It is you your immune system unable to kill mutations.
Re:How to burn US$10M on an ArXiv preprint on Tuesday July 30, 2024 @07:55AM (#41108200)
They do not, they made ~90 billion in profit. So no one would notice a 10 mil mistake, but no they didn't make 300b in profits.
Way more than delta flights were grounded. If you include all the hours lost by all those people and assign some monetary value it's probably more than that. Not only that, but all the hospitals. God forbid someone died because of it. Surprised crowd strike isn't bankrupt
23 bil in 4 years? That seems like a good deal.
Re:Intel pauses work on $25B Israel fab on Monday June 10, 2024 @08:33PM (#40640960)
Doesn't seem like a great idea to put a fab in such a dangerous spot.

It drives like a terrible driver. However if you have Tesla insurance it can drive like crazy and still not lower the safety score since all it's infractions aren't counted.
Re:Oral History of Brian L. Halla [pdf] (2013) on Saturday April 27, 2024 @11:47AM (#40180849)
Interesting how he was also born in seattle. Seems like how a lot of pioneers of the PC are from there.
If you are going to into a top 4 school it is something that will look good on your resume unless you already went harvard, stanford, etc. The Research community seems to like phds from prestigious schools.
Re:Toyota's Hybrid-First Strategy Is Delivering Big Profits on Saturday March 09, 2024 @09:50AM (#39651930)
Unless you own a house I don't think it makes sense to get an electric. I barely like sitting 5 minutes at the super charger which at least for me was giving like 180kw and then it just drops off a bunch, and now the super chargers are getting more full.
