Re:Linear sent me down a local-first rabbit hole on Friday August 08, 2025 @05:37AM (#44835167)
Local first is amazing. I have been building a local first application for Invoicing since 2020 called Upcount https://www.upcount.app/.

First I used PouchDB which is also awesome https://pouchdb.com/ but now switched to SQLite and Turso https://turso.tech/ which seems to fit my needs much better.

Re:Ask HN: Have you used SQLite as a primary database? on Monday April 25, 2022 @12:45PM (#31157425)
VATcomply.com has been using SQLite as a primary database for 2 years and is serving ~70 requests per second without an issue.

HTTPS: https://vatcomply.com/ Github: https://github.com/madisvain/vatcomply

I built and sold couple of open source API's I built and am now working on a new one that combines them together to make a complete API product for VAT compliance.

The idea is that you can geocode, show exchange rates and validate VAT numbers all from the same API.

Re:Recoil – A state management library for React on Thursday May 14, 2020 @03:29PM (#23184210)
For complex state flows we use Kea JS. https://kea.js.org/

The library has been around for a while and reduces a lot of boilerplate.

Is also used by some quite big names.

Python web framework roundup

http://www.konstruktor.ee/blog/python-web-framework-roundup

A lot of web frameworks have been built for Python. There are even tutorials around the web for rolling your own web framework in Python. That is because it's really that easy. In the end this has led to a lot of great frameworks and a lot of bad ones also. So lets round them up and separate the wheat from the chaff.

Python giving Haskell a run for its money

http://www.konstruktor.ee/blog/python-giving-haskell-a-run-for-its-money

Everybody knows Haskell beats Python in speed - always. The main reason being is that Haskell is compiled but Python interpreted. There have been some general posts about this all around. But lets give it a fair trial before finding guilty - lets add PyPy to the mix.
