Bipolar business owner here. Staying centered and level in the face of business ups and downs has been difficult. Very difficult at times. My reactions to stress and difficult situations, to successes too, are often imbalanced. Still I've remained successful. Here's how:

Talk therapy. I see a therapist weekly to keep the window's clean. To validate that what I believe isn't exaggerated by my varying states.

Medication. Very low does Lithium every night.

Sleep. I make sure I get it.

Exercise has been tough to execute on, but is proven - as much as meds - to help with bipolar and GAD.

Meditation I try to do once a week as part of yoga. I find it helps.

Family and friends who understand and can be supportive also are a huge help... but are often in the minority of people I know.

Re:Who Hacked Ashley Madison? on Wednesday August 26, 2015 @03:21PM (#10125392)
The AM hack is similar in tenor to the Sony hack. Nothing about the hack has the feel of a lone wolf or black hat operation. I have no doubt someone will get pinned for the hack, but I also think if it wasn't an inside job it was state-sponsored.
Infuriatingly, they do this only for the largest US companies while small business in America is left to fend for itself. Travel to China or Russia much as a small business?

One example: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-03-15/china-corporate-esp...

If your counterparty has the right relationships as the provincial or state level you're a target. This, FCPA, DCMA... US small business plays by a set of lofty one-sided rules.

Key: Ignore the inbox. Your labels define what is important. I have a label !!!Priority, color red. I've trained myself to focus first on that label. Everything else is secondary.
Re:Microsoft Office to go online — for free on Tuesday July 14, 2009 @11:10PM (#705060)
Users are going to migrate to the brand which elicits the most trust. When Office online launches watch closely... Microsoft's real brand value will be demonstrated. I think Redmond is going to be very disappointed with the ill will they've generated for themselves.
Consider this aphorism every time you want to procrastinate: "Make decisions based on what will lead to happiness, not what avoids discomfort." Think it over...
Re:How Washington Can Support Entrepreneurs on Wednesday May 27, 2009 @10:45PM (#629618)
Washington has one purpose today - feed the beast. Entrepreneurship and small business isn't on anyone's radar that matters. I can assure you that Pelosi, Frank, Obama and Maxine Waters - none of whom have ever been in business - couldn't care less about an Entrepreneurs dreams or ambitions. They're blinded by their own.

How to get our app to market?

We've built a real-time CRM system for our company's internal use, product-ized it, and have several markets to sell it to. We don't want to be in the software biz, but we can't seem to find a partner to sell and support it. How do you find an entity with LAMP know-how and marketing muscle to get a hot product into a market you've already got access to?

Re:Larry Page on Real Time Google: We Have To Do It on Tuesday May 19, 2009 @09:44PM (#617952)
I really thought Microsoft was ahead on this when I noticed their Live.com spider hitting my site 3:1 for Google. That was 1 year ago. What took Google so long to realize real-time is where its at?

US Economic End-Game Is Near -

And I thought collecting tiberium in Red Alert was all I needed to know about economics. Staggering analysis from Dr. Woody Brock on the US economy. I'm depressed, but newly motivated to vote now.

I'm sorry but that was hilarious. Invasive like a strip search and root canal, but funny as shit.
