Curious how we never get articles about the harm caused by western countries nuclear tests...
The article also exists in English: https://www.alqst.org/en/posts/1190

I don't know how old you are but I'm 44 and in my experience, you really should prefer quality over quantity.

Obviously because it's challenging Western world dominance.

Nice hypothesis. Would be a shame if someone were to test it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbV_lMS0R6U&lc=UgyIxFgZnPM8T...

This sounds like yet another anti-China thread that comes the same day as the new security law for Hong Kong (I'm sure it's just a coincidence).

I wonder: does China comment on repressive laws approved in other countries? Isn't Hong Kong a part of China? Why wouldn't they approve any laws they see fit? Why are the people that are concerned about this never concerned about repressive laws approved in US-friendly countries like Turkey or Saudi Arabia or the Emirates?

Re:PostgreSQL is the worlds’ best database on Friday April 03, 2020 @04:01AM (#22767128)
Yahoo uses PostgreSQL. I think that's pretty high-end requirements an debunks the myth of "commercial software is better for high end requirements".

Less readable in my opinion and I'm more used to C# code than Haskell.

Re:iPhone 11 Pro Camera Review on Thursday September 19, 2019 @11:39AM (#21017224)
I never considered the camera when buying a phone, and in fact would love a price discount in higher phone models with a cheaper or even no cameras.

Question for professional photographers from someone that has no idea about photography: why would you use a phone when you can use your professional camera?

Not really a techie; more like a marketing/business strategy guy.
Unfortunately for Oracle if you prohibit people from reporting security vulnerabilities they will just sell them in the black market.
So if I build a flawed security system, it is not insecure?

Afaik FAA does cannot certify anything because the engineers are all hired by the manufacturers because they pay much better. The FAA can just trust the manufacturers (more details here: https://spectrum.ieee.org/aerospace/aviation/how-the-boeing-...).
Re:Agony of an African Programmer (2014) on Monday April 22, 2019 @04:24PM (#19722583)
As an African, I think everything laid down in this article is applicable to any job. The main problem here imho is the economic system. Africa cannot capitalism like its Europe or Latin America. Private firms and investment will not solve our problems, this has been demonstrated for more than a century now. We just get predated over our natural resources. We don't have other countries to sack or attract a lot of qualified work from other countries. Nobody invests in Africa and if they do, intermediaries and corrupt governments steal most of it to live lavishly. And most of the highly qualified Africans just run away to have a decent living somewhere else. I feel very sad about my continent, the cradle of humanity :(
I don't remember getting any useful error message, but I've been using Kotlin for 3 years now, so I might not remember correctly. Can you post a stacktrace of what you're referring to?
