Re:Ask HN: Are we giving away our civilization? on Friday October 23, 2026 @09:28PM (#50217555)
I just started reading "The Nerd Reich". It's silly and horrifying at the same time. It paints an explicit picture of those who want this techno-apocalyptic future to happen because they think they're superior to everyone else and will "ascend" in this new world order (the Theils and Elons of the world). Like honestly, have some freaking humility. Everyone puts their pants on one leg at a time.

We need to do better and demand accountability and oversight as a society. We can do it, we just need to stick together.

Father time will get us all anyway. No need to speed up the clock.

Anyone want to partner? If you're deploying AI in consequential interactions or workflows I'd love to chat :)

Re:Understanding Runtime Governance for Enterprise AI Deployment on Thursday September 24, 2026 @07:21AM (#49829077)
As someone building in this space I would say adoption is slow, but interest is growing. We have no regulation in the US so it's hard to convince companies this is something they need to spend money on right now, especially when their mostly still struggling to define the ROI on their AI ambitions to begin with.

That said, the more the frontier models hack external systems and once the lawsuits start flowing the tune will almost certainly change. At least that's what I'm hoping :)

If you're curious in what we're working on you can check it out here: https://lyfe.ninja/

As a solo founder in the thick of it right now, I would consider it.

Given your constraints (fulltime job, side gigs, family) it could help balance the workload, and if you find the right one, maybe offload things you don't like or aren't good at. Not to mention the comradery component and having someone to go through the difficult times with you.

I'd find the ying to your yang, so if you the technologist, find someone good at business, sales, marketing, product, etc. That's my two cents.

Re:Ask HN: How to recover Google auth after phone stolen? on Friday September 18, 2026 @06:44AM (#49752489)
If you have another device that is logged in, you can get a code from that one to log into your account on your new phone or other device. It is an option but it's kind of buried. There's a special link you go to.

I lost my phone, and slacks recovery model is essentially like this.

Trying to keep this god damn start up from running out of money...
Isn't that the purpose of wikis? Not saying they work all that great but I think that's the goal.

I do like the idea of having a live editable wiki as the knowledge base a LLM can reference.

Ask HN: Are We Getting Dumber?

I have a very accomplished relative who I trust a lot and has been a role model for me. I've always trusted their judgement and they've never steered me wrong to date. I was recently having a conversation with them about sort of everything. During the conversation I essentially asked what separates success from failure (it was an open ended across the board kind of question) and their response...

Just soft launched BlkSeal, a modern content integrity platform.

It lets people, apps, and AI agents sign any digital content so anyone can verify it hasn't been modified after it was created. Think provenance and tamper detection, but with a different trust model than traditional digital signatures, including native revocation. The underlying tech is actually very cool.

Just put it out there, so now I'm in the fun/scary phase of seeing if anyone besides me actually wants it. Either way, I've learned a ton building it, and it's been one of the most rewarding side projects I've ever turned into a startup.

Show HN: Python SDK for signing digital content with revocable signatures

https://github.com/lyfeninja/lyfeninja_blkseal_python_sdk

I've been working on a Python SDK for signing and verifying digital content. Unlike traditional digital signatures, it's built around a revocable signature model using lease-based signing authority instead of conventional public/private key distribution. I'd love feedback on the API and whether the approach seems useful. Thanks.

Fake it til you make it baby!

They're just jumping on the hype train but can you really blame them? They've been hearing about how their job will be replaced, how they need to upskill with AI, and they see everyone else doing it. Many probably have no real skills so they're just trying to survive.

Ask HN: Any suggestions for finding beta users?

We're getting ready to soft launch our developer-first product and was curious if anyone has any suggestions or advice on finding beta users. Specifically beta users who are developers and/or technically savvy.I'm obviously going to leverage my network, but just curious what actually works at a larger scale, if anything. Thanks in advance.

All good advice, thank you everyone who's contributes so far!
This is exactly the type of insight I'm looking for. Thanks!

Ask HN: Has anyone had success with SBIR grants and what is the process like?

I'm considering applying to a phase I topic that is a pretty good fit for our tech and we should meet all basic requirements (U S. Based, small business, etc.), but I'm unsure if the juice is worth the squeeze. If anyone has any experience applying and going through the process I'd love to hear about it.Things I'm curious about... - how competitive is it? - how detailed should proposals be? -...

My first memory was meeting my parents for the first time when I was around two (I'm adopted). I don't remember anything before it, probably for the better.
Re:Ask HN: A Brief History of LLMs on Wednesday June 03, 2026 @06:45AM (#48382277)
Below is the "Attention is all you need" paper. Transformers and their attention mechanism was the major breakthrough for modern LLMs. ML has been around for a long time, I'd suggest joining kaggle or something and learn by doing. You'll retain more and realize how broad the category is anymore.

The problem I'm currently trying to solve, building a business around a novel data protection mechanism using ML based encoding while continuing to do research on it.
