News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

People mistake intelligence for volition, a machine can be perfectly intelligent while having no desire over anything, therefore making it a perfect slave (high intelligence, and high subservience). Volition and intelligence are orthogonal axes.
Re:It's getting harder to focus every day on Friday July 24, 2026 @03:54PM (#49040856)
I've tried multiple things to regain focus, the only ones that worked:

- blocking social media everyday til 2pm(i like working from 5-1 everyday), i use freedom app for that

- having a "distraction" tablet with 2fa on the social media I use, so I can only use distracting things there and not on my computer and iphone.

- when work requires just thinking, I bring my remarkable tablet to a coffeeshop or coworking and work just off of it.

- for avoiding staying behind on social media trends, etc, i built Analog Reader to read newsletters, best tweets from specific people and articles i save for later. It becomes a printed newspaper I can bring anywhere. I have a hacker news edition that runs everyday that showed this article for today and thats why im here lol.

Show HN: Analog Reader – Chrome Extension

https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/analog-reader/oaknflfnpdlonbjkompmiahfcoikdlhe

A bit of context, Analog Reader is a tool I built that takes any RSS feed (Substack, Ghost, etc.) and formats it as a printable newspaper.I've launched analogreader.com here before, now I'm here just to share some updates.I've since created a Chrome Extension that allows you to send any article you are currently looking at to analogreader.com with one click. That way, it's much easier to...

My daily sync is very manual at the moment, i use analogreader, generate pdf then drag it to remarkable on the mac app haha.

I can def take a look at Kindle screens and build alternate layouts for it!

Show HN: Analog Reader – Turn newsletters into printable newspapers

https://www.analogreader.com/

I absolutely hate what the internet does to my brain, to my capacity for focus, and to how little I retain information.I've been slowly migrating away from reading online to offline. Started a few years ago with a reMarkable tablet, then an Onyx Boox for colored papers. But newsletters always fell off my radar. There's just too much going on in my inbox. So I built a tool that takes any RSS feed...

Show HN: Regrets.io – The Regrets Database

https://regrets.io/

Yoooo HN,I'm Lucas Schiavini and I built Regrets.io, a platform to share regrets and to let your inner curious child endlessly look for pros in cons in everything. It's supposed to be simple and scrollable and a place for you to research anything you want and get easy pros and cons.So why not just use reddit? I've been on endless reddit threads on posts to gather all the info I needed to buy my...
