Re:Apple reports fourth quarter results on Monday November 02, 2026 @05:58PM (#50345265)
Naturally, AAPL stock has slumped nearly 5% on this news after hours.
Re:The importance of communities around software on Friday October 30, 2026 @12:04AM (#50299746)
You are part of the problem.
Re:The importance of communities around software on Thursday October 29, 2026 @04:20PM (#50295266)
The entire post is heavily driven by this author's ideologies around what they believe to correct. I mean just look at the footer and tell me this is someone on a reasonable part of the political spectrum.
Re:StackOverflow now gets fewer than 1000 questions a month on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @10:50PM (#50284015)
I'm hopeful Reddit will succumb to the same fate. There's too many power hungry people who capriciously control large elements of societal communication these days.
Re:New iMac with M6 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @03:00PM (#50264077)
I agree with you, but Apple's monitor situation is letting everybody down. Not having a 32" monitor for professionals is frustrating. I am glad I bought my Pro Display XDR.
Re:New iMac with M6 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @02:58PM (#50264049)
Many people report poor colour and uniformity with the panels Kuycon use. Also just on the specs alone the brightness is dismal.
Re:I will no longer upload to NEW on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @07:00AM (#50257263)
Hate to say it but this is one of the primary reasons I can never get interested in contributing to open source.
Not enough chatter about the QCD result here! I'm of the opinion that whatever the correct representation of the universe is, the GUT (Grand Unified Theory) will be authored not by humans but by LLMs.
Re:We should be more ambitious with the software we build on Saturday October 24, 2026 @06:53PM (#50226243)
Agreed. Perhaps we could start with some line length and text wrapping restrictions so we can be respectful of other people reading.

Or even just a nicer font, maybe?

Re:Show HN: Steal My Bitcoin on Saturday October 24, 2026 @06:47PM (#50226201)
The implication of your comment is that the exploit is not trivial and magically available to anyone with some tokens to bash together, which refutes the position that there is an horde of AI agents and people compromising sites en-masse.
Re:Show HN: Steal My Bitcoin on Saturday October 24, 2026 @06:07PM (#50225865)
What an insufferable comment. For all the hullabaloo discussing the economic value of time about $500 being an insufficient prize, you still spent what I can only assume is several minutes penning a comment that derives you zero economic value whatever.
Re:Speeding up code review with `small-change` on Friday October 23, 2026 @03:23PM (#50214088)
The criteria is unfit for purpose because as it stands it doesn't align with the ideals of what a "small change" is. And it's HN, not a COMP101 class.

> I won't respond further.

That's okay, I don't care.

Re:Apple Music 404 Not Found on Friday October 23, 2026 @03:21PM (#50214049)
Using the haptics in the MacBook touchpads for this would've been next level.
It's absurd how even surrounded by wealth, an abundance of resources, and a beautiful natural environment; we continue this frenetic hustle culture of committing ourselves to collectively overworking our planet and society, like coked up hamsters on a wheel.

There's numerous times I've thought of checking out with the (little) wealth I have and becoming a hitch-hiking vagrant and enjoying my time in nature with friends instead.

Re:Speeding up code review with `small-change` on Thursday October 22, 2026 @09:10PM (#50203280)
How the rule is composed with other rules is irrelevant to my statement that a small change is not "1000 lines".
Re:Speeding up code review with `small-change` on Thursday October 22, 2026 @07:01PM (#50202287)
> Something is a small-change if it meets all of these criteria it is less than 1,000 lines of code

Only my personal view but even 1000 LoC is not a "small change".

Re:Ofcom Concedes Defeat in the 4chan Case on Tuesday October 20, 2026 @03:24PM (#50171399)
We need to start collectively shaming individuals in the tech sector who work for these censorious government agencies and do their bidding.
Setting aside the other ways AI is upending society, I absolutely love how we can all share and build on simple artifacts and micro-apps now that can be built entirely from our brain's vision expressed in plain English.

That's a really fun tool.

O’Hareball!
Re:Bleached corals thrive within days on Saturday October 17, 2026 @08:23PM (#50136594)
Don't worry, overpopulation will come back as a concern when we get massive crop collapse due to climate change.
Re:Pele – Mermaid diagrams as themeable SVG on Saturday October 17, 2026 @04:21PM (#50134757)
Anytime I try mermaid for anything more complex than a toy diagram I always end up absolutely frustrated by the arcane and topologically poor layout that is produced.

Styling seems like a trivial problem by comparison.

Flood control and water storage for agriculture in drier summer months are the big ones.
Most of these dams were either in disrepair, had geotechnical problems, or were sufficiently silted up they didn't generate much power anyway. A few dozen rooftop solar installations probably generate more power.
In your opinion.

It's clearly being empathetic to the area's history, and it's taken from a vantage point that you won't often see anyway.

Re:Claude reveals ECDSA curve origins on Friday October 16, 2026 @03:46PM (#50123566)
This is also why one of the Zodiac ciphers remained unsolved for so long. The dude made a mistake in his transcription.
There's something beautifully eloquent about how a bundle of feathers may be one of this person's most cherished gifts they ever receive, no amount of money can match that.
Swiss Style/Typographic Style.
At such a high concordance as to see ideologies disappear from the population? Or is it more likely that ideologies and people's beliefs are from social and environmental feedback?
Except ideologies aren't genetic are they?
