Don't worry, they have collected enough little trees during the Olympic games opening ceremony.

Can you provide stats of the best services availability ?

This is just the end of the World...
Re:Announcing Remacs: Porting Emacs to Rust on Thursday January 12, 2017 @03:48AM (#13380798)
Why use a GPL license ? This kind of port could have been the occasion to get rid of this type of license.

Why port Emacs to Rust ?, it adds no value to users. Why not develop a modern GUI like Intellij IDEA with a Common Lisp implementation underneath like SBCL ?

I don't understand when Chris Wellons find the time to write all those fine blog posts.
Re:Compulab Airtop – Natural Airflow Desktop on Wednesday November 16, 2016 @09:08AM (#12966889)
It reminds me of Amstrad PC1512 in 1986 [1]:

> "Whereas IBM's PC (and almost all PC compatibles) had a power supply in a corner of the main case, the PC1512's power supply was integrated with that of its monitor. The monitor had sufficient venting to cool itself by convection, instead of needing a fan. The PC1512 was therefore quieter than other PCs. Rumours circulated that an Amstrad PC would overheat, and while existing owners would note that this did not happen, new buyers were discouraged. As a result, later models had a cooling fan integrated into the main case."

Do not mistake "simple" for "simplistic".
Re:I don’t like computers on Saturday November 05, 2016 @05:24AM (#12878911)
I was in the same mood. Now I 've stopped coding for a living (you can try management, presales,...) and at home I do what I like (exploring data structures and algorithms) with the tools (Emacs) and languages I like (Common Lisp)

Open Source tools are way behind commercial software. Just look at PolySpace Code Prover for example:

ou PolySpace bug finder :

Re:“Design Patterns” Aren't (2002) on Wednesday November 02, 2016 @05:56AM (#12853312)
Design is a kind of Constraints Satisfaction Problem (CSP).

It's just classic sovereignty.

> "Do pair programming with an employee"

If you are a 100% manager, then you will not be able to pair program for a long time as your programming/technologies competences will fade away quite rapidely.

As a french, being enslaved by a german kaiser is not what I call a "petty dispute"
Re:OpenBSD 6.0, to be released September 1 on Monday July 25, 2016 @10:05AM (#12158727)
Why sept 1st ? Why not november ?
Re:OpenBSD 6.0, to be released September 1 on Monday July 25, 2016 @10:04AM (#12158724)
The end of the vax platform !
TL,DR : Guido.

When Guido Van Rossum will tell Python 2.7 is now PyPy or when he will say "we don't support python2 anymore", then pypy will become the python2 de facto standard.

Re:Cron checker on Saturday July 16, 2016 @02:35AM (#12105487)
It would be nice to have the inverse: write in plain english what you want and it gives you the crontab line.
Re:Languages: Why we must save dying tongues (2014) on Sunday July 03, 2016 @02:53PM (#12027149)
It's a problem of speed of changes, old people can't have a true discussion to young people anymore.
Re:Languages: Why we must save dying tongues (2014) on Sunday July 03, 2016 @02:37PM (#12027107)
French is one of those dying tongues. In France we don't speak french anymore, we speak franglais, a mix of french and english words.

Well, that's why I use Emacs in full screen mode, without menu bar or tool bar, with a very minimal .emacs configuration and only reference documentation inside Emacs in info format.

Re:A Personal Lisp Crisis (2012) on Saturday May 14, 2016 @05:14PM (#11698061)
The author forgot to mention the most used Lisp dialect: Emacs Lisp.
Re:“Ask 'why' five times about every matter” on Monday May 09, 2016 @08:38AM (#11659308)
The rule should be "Ask 'why' at least five times" !
Well, as an autocad replacement you have:

and as a Photoshop replacement, you have things like :

And yes, there are people using these online tools.

Re:VW 'Dieselgate' software developed at Audi in 1999: report on Wednesday April 20, 2016 @07:21AM (#11533573)
Volvo, Renault, Mercedes, Jeep, Hyundai, Citroen, BMW, Mazda, Fiat, Ford and Peugeot have not used fraud to pass the tests. You are citing studies using different test conditions than the official test.
