I think you may not understand the problem. As noted, unmanaged/passive index funds invest using market capitalization as a metric. And anybody who is invested in these ETFs thus unknowingly buy into these astronomically overhyped companies, and once these company valuations fall (and they will), pension funds/IRAs/401k will be the bagholders.

Use Firefox, uBO works great. While I really enjoy seeing people find creative technical workarounds, the reason for it being needed in the first place is Googles fight against Adblockers with Manifest V3. Firefox allows people to sidestep this artificial downgrade of adblocking capabilities.

I disagree, I think you cast the net way too wide. Asymmetric cryptography enables secure communication in the first place. It's being used nefariously by Google and Apple, of course, but that's to be expected from big tech.
I think they absolutely have the ability to see it, it's part of the value proposition for them.

Nah, that rule is more relevant and true now than it was a year ago.

I agree. I have no idea why this story is upvoted. Hacker culture is truely dead, it's all slop now.
Why is this downvoted? What the (far) right wing has done to american institutions is incredibly destructive and it will take decades to fix it, if that's even possible. People are hurting because of it.
Agreed. Every single user that stops using Microslop products and embraces open computing environments is a net win for software freedom. And I want open/free/libre software to succeed.
The normies are what makes Microslop money, though. We need to get the normies onboard in order to fight MS' stranglehold on computing. Gatekeeping isn't the right move here.
Well, seniors get everything else handed to them in this world, so I don't shed many tears when they are left out for once.
No, it's not conscious, and anybody pretending it is has either no clue, or, more likely in the AI space, is a grifter.
Shareholder value had to be increased, don't you understand?!
Or people could instead not use Microslop software, easy fix for the AI bullshit. But yeah of course you're technically right.
AI is the ultimate grifting tool, grifters gonna grift.

I know only a single Ukrainian IRL who is pro-russia, the vast majority is vehemently as anti-russia as can be, and I adopted my opinion about this tragedy from them.

>I rest my case

Yeah, you really should.

Re:Russia Poisons Wikipedia on Saturday May 02, 2026 @02:32PM (#47989062)
I 100% agree with you.
Re:Russia Poisons Wikipedia on Saturday May 02, 2026 @12:02PM (#47987565)
I'd rather listen to Ukrainians on this topic, and they are pretty clear on what they support and against what they are fighting.
Re:Russia Poisons Wikipedia on Saturday May 02, 2026 @11:36AM (#47987322)
Why? Russia does nothing except spread pain, violence and suffering. Just look at what they do to Ukraine every day.

As opposed to you, of course, the only person who has a valid opinion online.

Edit: ah, account few days old and this is your first comment. Hello, Ivan, nice social influencing campaign you're running there.

Russia turns everything it touches to shit.

Ah, didn't know this, thanks. Republicans always lie, this isn't surprising.

>what in the world is going on?

AI slop code

Probably yeah, but we could at least try to not make it worse, though even that seems very hard for the tech grifters in silicon valley.
Have you ever been in India while they have those incredibly hot heatwaves in the summer? That kills thousands of people every year. This will only get worse the more greenhouse gasses we emit so slop machines can generate funny videos of the pope breakdancing.
As they should, now that we have renewables and batteries.
I hope the AI bubble bursts before our earth is too hot to survive on for millions of people.
It's good to see that using Debian means I don't have to deal with either Snaps or Slop.
