I’m surprised no one visited this site

I pivoted to only dubs past Full Metal Alchemist because they finally were of high quality and provided enough context that they were superior to subs for me, given that I wasn't willing to learn Japanese and its cultural connotations
Full metal alchemist, the original not Brotherhood, was the pivot point in my opinion where dubs were superior to subs.

The main characters were all well voice acted while I admit background characters were poorly voice acted.

However I say it’s the pivot point because the in top of the main characters having good voice actors the translation included cultural context I would have never picked up on my own.

For instance it took me nearly a decade later of occasionally watching subs to find out that “ore” was rude when male characters used it to refer to themselves because I didn’t have the cultural context to understand.

If I’m willing to become fully fluent in a language and its culture dubs are superior, but I just don’t have the time for most foreign media.

No, I used my real name for stack overflowing and not willing to link it to this account

I did the same and would still have a question closed as a dupe, with a link to the question I had already explained was different from my situation.

no, its my fucking opinion. I didnt say it was fact. You see the word "believe" in that text?

Well it’s currently negatively affecting my life in every aspect other than being an upgrade to searches.

I don’t discount its capabilities since around April of this year, it passed my bar for being able to do amazing things. But it has also made any interaction I’ve had with companies a living nightmare and appears to have permanently deleted my career and knocked me down 1-2 economic classes.

So would Mr Rodriguez. This one was actually a conspiracy and led to charges.

Yea, I actually believe a bunch of people agreeing with an action has a difference in quality vs one oligarch or king getting to unilaterally decide.

They may end up doing shitty things but the group has buy in from a lot more people than one asshole deciding how we get to live our life.

Always know something is bullshit when I see Gunther Eagleman show up.

No, they are single individuals who have more speech than me via dollars. They are groups of people. I may have problems with particular unions or particular actions but they’re a million times better than a single illegal immigrant being able to manipulate politics on his own whims.
Re:Wealth Inequality in America drawn to scale on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @07:42AM (#50272016)
They’d stop meddling in elections for at least one notable illegal immigrant billionaire
Re:Amazon Is Gutting Its AI Division After Sustained Failure on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @05:23AM (#50270977)
Why do I need to care about profitability as a business if I can capture a shrinking market? /s

It feels like a related statement to someone willing to burn their own country to rule over the ashes.

Using GAAP or woo woo logic?

What AI lab is profitable?

And in before ‘JumpCrissCross chimes in about inference being profitable while ignoring all the investment costs needed to get inference to where it is.

Re:Tiny Tracking Tags for Big Monarch Journeys on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @06:59PM (#50267075)
The site looks like it got hugged to death.

I’m on the monarch migration path and had wild milkweeds with monarch butterflies for a few years but the last 2-3 years oleander aphids exploded in population and I’ve seen a single caterpillar since.

Are there ways to mitigate that while not killing the monarchs or am I just shit out of luck?

Just 300? I’m at about 2000-3000. Just got my latest rejection after 5 rounds and 3 weeks.

At this point I can’t afford to apply to tech jobs anymore. They require you to be available for an hour randomly across multiple days and have shit like the ceo “needing” to meet you and then rescheduling last second because something more important than you came up.

All the jobs available to someone changing career right now give you maybe a days head up on your schedule and a 30 minute lunch if your lucky.

The interview process for tech has become a class barrier in of itself

There have been millions of software engineers since Microsoft founded.

The field may mint millionaires at a higher rate but it’s still not routine.

Spare me. Which country do you think anyone would infer when discussing people talking about attacking a nuclear armed nation?
One of my freshman math teachers gave grades out for 3 tests and none on homework. He also told us that if we didnt take the first 2 tests, it wouldn't count against us and only the grade on our final would count. Along with that he had extensive open office hours.

It was the math class where I learned the most as well as I wasn't doing rote work and was able to talk to him whenever I had an actual question.

I dont like AI destroying some of our systems but if we return back to the sort of learning that college used to be where it was self directed with guidance from professors, I will count that as a win over the factory worker production system that high school was and universities were starting to ape.

Higher progressive tax rates.

Closing up loopholes on realizing wealth like by taking loans continuously using your unsold stocks as collateral.

We don't even have to immediately jump to more extreme ideas like a straight wealth tax. We could try doing _anything_ instead of just shrugging our shoulders as we watch people like Musk and other oligarchs take us down the path Russia went in the 90s.

Guess Russia gets to do as it pleases.
lol at the subtle propaganda.

Ukraine gave away its nukes and now look what’s happening. And yea, we should be attacking even nuclear armed states if they are invading others.

They are a threat that means we probably shouldn’t push a nation armed with them to the point where they feel their back against a wall, but it’s not “we get to do what we want with no resistance whatsoever” card

Re:Reverse engineer of PC-98 Touhou games retires on Sunday October 25, 2026 @09:37AM (#50231450)
I get what you’re going for but that’s a poor analogy. If I was a passionate angler and someone showed up dynamite fishing at the same spot, the activity I’m passionate about is ruined.
that ship sailed a while ago. Rowhammer is the first one I can remember
You need to deal with the fact that my theoretical situation doesn’t change.

There’s a boot on my neck either way. The boot squeezing harder doesn’t change the fact that it’s on my neck.

If I see the chance to cut off the leg of one of the people holding that boot down and the only consequence is that I am in the same situation I was in previously, why would I not take it?

I guess I have to preface this with the fact that I know you personally are well off and actually have a material difference in quality of life in this situation.

I am asking you why I should care about your material difference in life when mine won’t change either way?

I’ve never made 225k in my life. And I still have more in common with someone getting paid 500k a year than I do with the people who appear literally untouchable
> And then come to your senses and realises lowering the bar for criminality will absolutely not limits its blast radius to the people you want it to.

If you’re already in the blast radius of the current system, why would you care if it expands if you think it might include the people fucking you over in the first place?

I’m not disagreeing that there are problems that could result from this idea. I’m disagreeing with you on the idea that people are crazy for wanting this while there’s this class of people who do whatever they want whenever they want to the rest of us.

Like I pointed out with the French king loosing his head during the French Revolution. The fact that one of those people had consequences is worth it to a lot of people even if it means the rest of the noble class is even more empowered.

They are already beyond consequence generally, more power for them doesn’t change the relationship between the common man and the nobles.

You saw the same emotional situation play out with Luigi Mangiones actions despite having scant effect on the system.

Sure, but we can still all be pissed about the upper class being beyond consequences that us plebs get.

If I do something to fuck over this many people and harm society this much I’m going to jail. No billionaire is having the same consequences.

Until that changes you are going to have people be willing to back table flipping movements like the French Revolution in a gamble to maybe give consequences to those in charge. Hell that’s more than half the reason we got Trump.

Also I’m going to call out your analysis of the French Revolution as failing entirely as poor. Some of the rich got richer but people wanted the kings head and they definitely got it.

The engineers or the janitors?
