Since it is based on perception, and many people perceive themselves as outside the binary male/female categories, shouldn't the first question about my gender give me more options than just male and female?
Thanks, it looks like it might be nice, but I don't see any price model or anything telling me whether it's free or not, and I don't feel like registering before knowing that.
Super useful, thanks a lot! Do you happen to know what happens when a signed commit gets cherry-pick/rebased by someone else? I assume the signature would then be invalid. In the git documentation I see an option for these commands to sign or not the rebased/cherry-picked commit, but they don't say whether the now-invalid signature gets removed or not.
For me the categories aren't super important. I just select something IT, my city, and I just see if there are companies I have never heard of. Thanks for doing that!
Really nice! I'm in Berlin and mildly looking for a small for-good gig, so I'll definitely have a closer look at this board.
Is it open source? Do you need some help?
Thanks! I don't understand the game still with the explanations :D This is probably me, but just in case this is useful, here is what/why I don't understand:
1. there seems to be only one thing I can do each time: take the biggest chunk and move it to a border, so I just keep doing that like a robot. I don't see where I have any kinds of choice or challenge?
2. it doesn't seem to make a difference to which border I move the big chunk (right, top, left, bottom)
3. sometimes after I have moved the chunk, the board changes only a bit, and sometimes it seems to get totally replaced by a new board. I don't understand why

Hey, OP here. This is hopefully interesting, especially for front-end developers. Nowadays images (JPEG, PNG, ...) can contain so-called Image Regions in their metadata [1] like cropping regions or regions of interest. So we've created a React component [2] that responsively displays the "best" cropping region, i.e. the one with the ratio closest to the current `<img>` element size. If...
Super short article on how to attach various debuggers to a node process. AFAIK way more straight to the point than more official documents.

hopefully we'll get back soon with a scalable system and you'll be able to try it out :)
We're working on serving all the requests that came in before we disabled onboarding (about 200 requests). If you give me your github username I can tell you if you're part of them :)
Hehe :) And this is really useful, I hope my message didn't make it sound like the opposite. (Unfortunately our readme is probably full of typos!)
this is the bottleneck:
https://github.com/AurelienLourot/github-contribsIt uses a very slow non-official GitHub API and so it takes several hours to do the initial crawling of one single profile, and is limited by IP so you need several machines/instances in order to parallelize. We plan to use AWS Fargate for the future. (We thought this future would be much farther away)
We had a chat with the "profile team" at GitHub recently and they are doing a great job as we speak at improving the GitHub profiles :)
It's cheeply automated to handle 10 profile requests per day, which is more than what we got in the past few months. So now we're giving it some human help and we'll have to rethink the system.
What is your username? I'll cancel your request, thanks!
OP again, we're way overloaded. We got 200 profile requests already in an hour and we didn't see it coming. We're extremely thankful and sorry to disappoint you at the same time. We're closing the "Get your profile" feature for now. Spinning up many EC2 instances to process the 200 profile requests faster in parallel as we speak. And we'll come back soon with a system that can handle this load.
Many many thanks!
indeed, you're hitting what I just described in my other comment. Sorry about that, I really didn't think it would happen this fast (it's not the first time I post this on a forum).
Taking a few minutes now to display a temporary message that we're a bit overloaded.
This is already more popular than I thought, the queue of profile requests (and AWS SQS) contains already more than 10 users, at this point any new user user coming will have the sensation that nothing happens when they want to get a profile.
I didn't expect to reach this point so fast (thanks!). I'll work on improving this right after this wave of new users. For now, just making sure that you all get your profile.
OP here. The idea came because on your GitHub profile:
- I can't see all your code contributions since the beginning of time at a glance.
- For each of your pinned repos, I can't tell at the first glance whether you just fixed a typo or you wrote 90% of it.
ghuser.io tries to close this gap. You can show off with your entire GitHub "portfolio" and it gets refreshed every day.
And hopefully this is temporary. The best for the community would be to have all this directly on GitHub. The sooner ghuser.io can be switched off, the better ;)

Hi :) I guess your script will grow over time because soon you'll want to detect also unpushed and stashed changes.
Before you reinvent this wheel, there is already a tool doing exactly that: https://github.com/brandon-rhodes/uncommitted
(Disclaimer: I wrote a large part of it)
Thanks! I really like it and I have been using it now for two days. I wanted to give you a star on GitHub/GitLab but I can't find your code. Is it open-source?
actually I checked before posting and it seemed that no one had ever posted this on HN or reddit.
It might be old but it's not outdated. I have discovered it a few days ago because I'm doing something with CSS grids at the moment and I'm checking this page everyday.
EDIT: ok the warning at the top "CSS Grid Layout is currently supported by very few browsers" is outdated but the actual cheatsheet is definitely not :)

Let me describe what I see in the first seconds of the video:
- First you open your app which seems to be a popup. It shows "tasks", "tables", "calendars". Fine.
- But suddenly it's gone and you are on a "It's Nice That" article. I don't understand what happened. It's about cycling and your app shows items about cycling. Ok. You click on "+". You type "Morning run".
- But suddenly it's all gone again. You're now typing "The Washing Company". It has nothing to do with cycling, or tasks, or calendars.
And all this happened in only 11 seconds. I don't understand what I saw or what happened. I don't understand what the app does :) It might be a todo-list app, it might be a bookmarking app, it might be kind of a dashboard. I can't tell because each scene lasts only 3 seconds, I need to pause the video to be able to read, and when you're about to do something, it's all gone and it's already the next scene. So I have no chance to see what the app can do :)
And it goes on like that. You're reading something about food. Then you're about to do something and bang, before you actually do it, you're reading something about shoes :)
I agree: I watched the first 30 seconds of the video and didn't really understand what I was seeing, so I jumped to later points of the video, then I read a bit the landing page and I didn't understand what a pod is, so I jumped to the About page. At this point I was able to understand what you want to solve, but I still didn't get "how", i.e. I still don't really get what the tool is doing.
I'm sure it's great :) But somehow after 1-2 minutes I gave up trying to understand. Other projects often manage to give me a more precise idea in 1-2 minutes. The issue might be on my side though.

Not yet but it's kind of my goal: I have implemented this module because I need it for creating better, slightly customizable GitHub profile pages.
